APPARATUS FOR FINGER GYMNASTICS Filed Aug 20, 1928 Patented Feb. 3, 1931 KABEL LOBOSICKY, F PRAGUE, CZECHOSLOVAKIA APPARATUS FOR FINGER GYMNASTICS Application filed August 20, 1928, Serial No. 300,848, and in Czechoslovakia August 24, 1927.
This invention relates to a device such as used by instrumental musicians for exercising the wrist and the fingers and of the kind comprising a plurality of finger rings connected by means of elastic strings to a sup port, and the invention consists in the provision of a support in the form of a hooked standard which is held adjustably in a feltlined bracket adapted to be secured to the 19 head of a violin or the like so as to allow the fingers to he exercised in their natural positions over the finger board.

The device shown in the drawings comprises a clamp l which is provided with a felt or like lining 3 and adapted to be secured by means of a clamping screw 2 to the head of a violin or similar stringed musical instrument. The clamp has a bore 4 for the reception of a standard in the form of a stout wire 5 adapted to be adjusted longitudinally in the clamp and to secured thereto in various positions by means of a set-screw 9. The upper end of the standard is formed with a hook 6 from which a plurality of finger rings 8 is suspended by means of elastic strings 7 composed of rubber or wire coils.
The standard is preferably bent so that, with the clamp between the tuning pegs, as shown in Fig. 4, the upper part of the standard leans towards the finger board. The instrument is held in the usual way, and the fingers are inserted in the rings 2 and exercised together with the wrist in opposition to the elastic strings.
The device is not only useful for beginners for strengthening the wrist and finger muscles, but also for expert players, in that an occasional use of the device, particularly before a performance, will tend to put the muscles into proper working condition.
