A reinforcing frame 3 is applied to and is frictionally held upon-the holding flange 2.

It will be noted that the holding flange 2 projects laterally from the shade 1.

This reinforcing frameB may be made of any suitable resilient metal. However, if desired it could also be made of soft material such as rubber. The purpose of this reinforcing frame 3 is to prevent the flange 2.

It will be noted that the flange 2 is transversely curved, as clearly shown in Fig. 1, in addition to the general double curvature in the lateral or horizontal direction, which is clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 4:. It will be noted that the shade is open,

I claim: c e

1. In combination, a lamp shade open at its bottoinand closed'at its top and having at one side thereof a horizontally projecting and transversely curved flange whose transverse contour line is an incomplete curve,

a holding frame having spaced walls be tween which said flange is slidably located, said holding frame being in horizontal position and having walls which are superposed when the shade is in normal operative position, said framehaving a substantially U- shaped cross section conforming to the shape of, said flange, said frame having holding means connected thereto, said holdinglmeans being movable in a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the walls of the frame, said holding means being operable from the outside of said frame.

2. In combination, a'lamp shade open at its bottom and having a horizontally projecting flange which has a double curvature in the horizontal direction, said flange-being transversely curved, and a frame in which said flange'is adapted to be removably located, the transverse contour line of said flange being an incomplete curve.

3. A lamp shade open at its bottom and having a horizontally projecting flange vwhich is laterally curved, so that said flange has a lateral concave wall portion a reinforcing frame fitting oversaid flange, and having a portion extending over and spaced fromsaid'lateral concave wall portion, and

'a clamping frame of substantially U-shaped cross-section having walls" between which saidi'flange and said reinforcing-frame are adapted to be removably located, and clampand adapted to bear against said spaced portion of the wall of said frame.

4. A lamp shade open at its bottom' an having a horizontally projecting flange which is laterally curved, so that said flange liasa lateral concave wall portion, a reinforcing frame fitting-over said flange, and having a portion extending over and spaced from said lateral concave wall portion, and a clamping frame of substantially 'U-shaped a portion thereof ofcorresponding arcuate shape and adapted to bear against the under 1 face of the said flange, saidsupport having a lamp supporting arm connectedthereto and extending within the said shade, and clamping means adapted to clamp the said flange to the said support. i
