- This invention relates to measuring .ini struments and has been designed more par ticularly as an improvement-in aspeedometer for motor vehicles. f Among the objects sought to be obtained by the improvements herein described are simplicity in construction and economy in manufacture. The slot 36 is of sufiicient length of-arc to provide the necessary swinging of regulator arm 32 to adjust the hail-spring. The-outer end of arm 32 is cut and shaped, as best shown in Figure 3 at 42, and received between the'depremed portions thereof is the end of hair spring 38 and a tapered securing pin 40.
By the provision above described, it will be seen that the one-piece stamping 10 carries integral therewith the speed cup stop 18, the spindle retainer 24 and the hole jewel seat. This reduceslthe number of parts and thereby saves expense both in material and the cost of assembly. The speed cup stop 18 is easily accessible and may be readily bent for the purpose of adjustment to get an accurate zero reading. 7 p The use of rib 16 sufiiciently reinforces rangement for mounting the hair spring regulator.

I claim:
In a measuring instrument having as parts thereof an indicating member, a spindle therefor, yielding means biasing said indieatingmember to a zero position, a stamped plate, a spring regulator rotatably mounted on said plate, said plate having a slot cut on an are about the center of rotation of said spring regulator, said regulator having parts lanced therefrom and bent over adjacent portions of said frame, one ofsaid parts being passed through said slot.
