My invention relates. to mangles or wring- I ers adapted to be moved from their operat 'ing position above a table-top to a position underneath thereof so that the machine can Elbe used both as a mangle or wringer as well as an ordinary table.

These advantages are attained in that the mangle or wringer is loosely carried by an axle located under the table-top,about which axle the mangle can be swung so as to be readily lowered to its inoperative position. For this purpose, an open space is left un- I derneath the table-top so that the mangle not onl han s free but can alsoswin free of a any stays or other parts-of the frame and t in which the mangle rollers are arranged in avoid damage thereto, should it be inadvertently released while being lowered. Thus, any pinching of the fingers or other injuries are safely prevented.

In order to make the mangle or wringer' movable in the above manner, it is employed without spring bends passing over the rollers,

lateral, springs. In this way, the mangle has I not only a small weight, so that it can be 'moved into and out of operative position 7 with a slight effort but also the mounting of the operating crank at the side clear of the standard is facilitated.

The two halves ofthe table-top lying in front. of and behind the mangle or wringer, are slidably mounted on a transverse'shaft extending from the front to the back of the machine and they are moved towards one another on this shaft, after the lowering of the mangle to its inoperative position. The swinging of the mangle is possible after the table-top 6 has been raised to an upright position as shown by the broken lines in Fig. 3.
