IMPROVEMENT |N COVERS FOR THRASHING-MACHINE TUMB LlNG-RODS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1.7 8694, dated June 13, 1876; application filed May 9, 1876.
' To all whom't't may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM R. WILCOX,
of Sterling Centre, in the county of Blue Earth and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and. Improved Cover for Threshing- Machine Tumbling-Rod's, of which the followin g is a specification:

The object of this invention is to furnish a covering for the tumbling rods of thrashingmachines, which shall be simple in construc- *tion, easily applied, light, strong, and durable,
and which will allow the knuckle-joint to be oiled Without removing the cover.
The invention consists in a cover for the tumbling-rods of thrashing-machines, formed of the half-tubes provided with the strengthing-ribs, and having an enlargement provided with a door formed in it to cover the knucklejoint of the rods, and in the combination of the support the cover away from the tumblingrod. The upper part of the enlargement B has a hole formed in it, closed by a door, I), to enable the knuckle-joint to be conveniently oiled without its being necessary to remove the cover. The cover A is strengthened with wooden ribs F attached to its top, as shown in the drawing.
The cover may be made with a joint at its enlargement, in which one part of it should be provided with hooks G, to hook upon the eyes 0 attached to the other part.
At theend next to the horses the cover is designed to be secured to the bearing-block by a metal strap passing over it and secured to said block. At the other end the cover is designed to be secured to the machine by a hook and brace to keep it in place.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A cover for the tumbling-rods of thrashing-machines formed of the half-tubes A, provided with ribs F, and having an enlargement, B, provided with a door, I), formed'in it to cover the knuckle-joint of the rod, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. The'combination of the eyes 0, the stakes D, and the set-screws E, with the enlargement B of the cover A,substantially as herein shown and described. 7
