' The present invention'has for its purpose the provision of a Inultiplepushbutton unit whichmay be mounted in the dial opening of a standard telephone. A. further purpose of the invention is the provision of such athe center of the unit; and Fig. 3 is a similar enlarged section of a fragment of the unit showing one of the buttons in operated position; while Fig. 4 shows the parts of the unit in position ready for assembling.
Although the inventionmay be used with any type of telephone having an opening in its casing, it is particularly adapted for use in a desk telephone such as shown in Fig. 1 having a base 5 with an opening therein and with an offset column 6 which may carry a transmitter or a cradle for supporting a combined microphone and receiver. The present multiple button unit is shown in Fig. 1 mounted in the opening in the base 5 which is normally provided to receive an impulse transmitter or dial used in an automatic telephone system.
This unit, as best shown in Figs. 2,3 and U 4, comprises a circular mounting plate 8 having a plurality of openings 9 to receive 1 push buttons 10. On the under side of the mounting plate 9 but spaced therefrom by a metal washer 13 there is supported a multiple spring contactor 11 having integral U mounted therein; Fig. 2' is a section through 1929. Serial no. 355,869.

In combination with a telephone case having a circular opening therein adapted to receive an automatic telephone impulse transmitter, a circular multiple push button unit .mountedin and closing said. opening, comprising a support carrying a plurality of indivi dual contacts, a contactor having an in tegral conducting spring in cooperative relation to each contact, and a button mounted above each of certain of said springs to force its related spring into engagement with a desired contact.

In combination with a telephone base having an opening therein adapted to receive an automatic telephone impulse transmitter, a multiple push button unit mounted in said opening comprising a mounting plate having a series of openings therein, push buttons in said openings, a contactor mounted in spaced relation to said mounting plate but with said buttons in operative relation with respect thereto, and a piece of insulation spaced from said contactor, said piece carrying contacts in position to be engaged by said contactor.

In combination with a desk telephone having a base and an off-set column, a cir cular opening in said base adapted to receive an automatic telephone impulse transmitter, a multiple push button unit mounted in and closing said opening, comprising a mounting plate having a series of openings therein positioned to describe a circle, push buttons in said openings, a contactor in spaced relation to said mounting plate, said contactor having integral fingers radiating toward said openings in said plate and adapted to be engaged by said push buttons, and a piece of insulation spaced from said contactor, said piece carrying contacts positioned to be engaged by said fingers.
6. In combination with a desk telephone having a base and an offset column, said base being provided with an eccentric circular opening, a multiple push button unit adapted to be mounted in and to close said opening,
comprising a mounting plate having a series of openings therein positioned to describe a circle, a contactor fastened to said mounting plate in spaced relation thereto, said contactor being formed of integral contacting fingers provided with down-turned M ends adapted to be depressed by said push buttons, and a circular piece of insulation spaced from said contactor and supported by sa d mounting plate, said piece carrying contacts in position to be engaged by the down-turned ends of said contacting fingers.
7. In combination with a desk telephone having a circular base, an off-set column mounted thereon, said base having an eccentric opening, a multiple push button unit mounted in and adapted to close said opening, comprising a circular mounting plate iaving a series of openings therein positioned to describe a circle, push buttons in said openings, a contactor fastened to said mounting plate in spaced relation thereto, comprising integral lingers provided With clownturned ends radiating toward said openings
