The primary purpose and object of my device is for use in conjunction .with rigging and more primarily with logging rigging wherein it is found necessary and desirable to place a loading jack upon the guy line or lead to spot the jack over trucks to be loaded, or loading platforms, the jack to be supported upon one of the guy orlead lines, through which an operating cable passes to the donkey or machine for handling the loads to be loaded. 1
The invention consists primarily of a body elementhaving sheaves 'adjustably positioned in oppositely disposed ends of the upper side 5 of the body element and having a clamping head removably secured to the body element through which a supporting line passes a'nd having a yoke or swivel disposed the lower side of the body elements. The primaryobject ofmy' device is to provide means whereby the loading may be positioned quickly and easily upon the supporting line and having means associated tl1B1eWli l1 1 for clamping the associated ele ments upon the supporting line with a minimum of time and labor. V
A further object of my device is to reduce the lines for supportingland maintaining the,
same to a minimum. In loading jacks gener- 0 ally in use in the logging camps in theNorthwest for handling heavy timbers, atleast two additional lines are used for stabilizing the .jack upon thesupporting line. r
The loading jack consists primarily of body elements having pulleys disposed in oppositely disposed ends of the body element under which the lines pass for maintaining the jack upon the supporting line.
In the simplified construction that I emare secured to the oppositely disposed ends of the loading jacks now in common use. The elimination of the stabilizing lines simplifies the device and at the same time eliminates one of thegreatest of the operating annoyances. In the old construction, the forcible release of the loading tongs forces the tongs into the air with the hazard of the tongs becoming entangled in the added lines. Many times the release of the tongs from the line requlres a and quickly positioned and m ploy, I eliminate the stabilizing lines that man to climb the line to release the same,
thereby consuming much valuable time and at r thesame time creatinga physical operating hazard that I have largely eliminated.
In my new and improved device the frame structure carries a removable clamping head between the supporting sheaves through which the supporting line passes and once the same has been positioned upon the supporting line, the same remains fixed relative to the supporting line.
A further object of my new and improved loading jack consists in providing means whereby the supporting sheaves may be freed from contact with the supporting line when desired. I preferably form my device of side body elements 1 and 2, made crescent shaped and having yokes 3 and 1 positioned upon oppositcly disposed ends of the side wall memhers. The yokes 3 and t each carry sheave pin 5. The sheave pins 5 have shoulders 6 and 7 disposed upon oppositely disposed ends, the shoulders engaging each of the inner side walls of the yoke and each end of the pin 5 airrying an adjusting nut 8. The slumlder about the pin may be created by the placing of a sleeve upon the pin. Each of the pins 5 carry a sheave 6A adapted to ride upon the supporting line 9. A connecting cross bar 10 connects the side wall members 1 and 2 and the pin 5 passes through elongated slots 11 and 12 disposed within a side wall member. An adjusting threaded screw 13 passes through the yokes 3 and 1 and is threadably positioned relative to the side wall members 1 and 2. A clamping head 14 is removably secured to the side wall members by any suitable attaching means, as by through bolts 15. Outwardly extending from oppositely disposed sides of the clamping head and made integral therewith are tapered rope engaging semicircular ends 16 and 17 the same being threaded on their exterior, and a companion half-circular rope engaging clamping section 18 is associated therewith, the oppositely disposed ends 19- and 20 of which are composed of sloping surfaces to form frustra of cones. Each surface is threaded as at 21. Split threaded locking jaws 22 and 23 are adapted to engage the threaded frustaconical surfaces. Each of the engaging threaded surfaces have uniform taper. Each of the sections may be made split and hinged together about supporting pins 24: and 25 to facilitate quick positioning of the same, and once positioned and having their respective surfaces threadably engaged, a tight connection is made between the respective clamping surfaces by the threading of the clamping surfaces together. The spanner wrench 26. illustrated in Fig. 6, has a hook 27 disposed upon one end which is adapted to engage within the eyes 28 and 29 disposed upon oppositely disposed sides of the clamp for threading the same-relative to the clamping jaws. The oppositely disposed end of the spanner wrench 26 has a recess 30 disposed therein for tightening the. respective bolts threaded within the loading jack. To prevent the loss of the clamping elements the same may he secured to the loading jack by any suitable fastening means, as by chains 31 and 32 each of the chains carrying a clouhle ended spring locked hook 38, as illustrated in Fig. 5, having a spring closure 3+: and disposed within the hook, one end of the hook is adapted to engage within the locking eye at the split clamp and the other and oppositely disposed end adapted to engage within the keeper chains 31 and 32; spring means being provided within the hook to maintain the same relatively fixed and to facilitate quick engagement. A shackle 36 is rockably supported upon a through supporting pin 37 and a chain or line may be reeved therein and secured thereto for loading and positioning the loading jack relative to the supported lines. lVhen it is desired to raise and lower the sheaves 6 relative to the support line, the same is adjusted by the positioning of the threaded adjusting screws 13, thus placing the entire load of the jack upon or away from the supporting line and inversely and simultaneously therewith placing the entire load of the jackupon the clamping head or freeing the same from the line. However, when the jack is being used for the moving of heavy loads the sheaves and the clamping head should be maintained in a straight line to prevent the sag in the line throwing the clamping head out of line and distorting the same. When the clamping head and the sheaves are all in engagement with the line a three point support is placed upon the line, thus distributing the load upon the line and lengthening the life of the line.
While the form of mechanism herein shown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated, it is to be under stood that it is not intended to confine the invention to the one form of embodiment herein shown and described, as it is susceptible of embodiment in various forms, all coming within the scope of the claims which follow.
'VVhat I claim is 1. In a device of the class described, the combination of side wall body elements, yokes adjustably positioned on the upper opposite top sides of the side wall members, a shoulder pin fixedly positioned Within each of the yokcs, av sheave rotatably disposed upon each pin, means for raising and lowering each of the yokes relative to the side walls and a clamping head remova-bly secured to the side wall. members.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination of side wall members spaced apart and made integral with each other. yokes adjustably positioned at either end of the side wall body elements, sheave blocks rotatahly positioned. uponpinsdisposed within the yokes, threaded means for raising and lowering the yokes and the sheave blocks relative to the side wall body elements and a. clamping head removably secured to the sidewall body elements.
3. In a device of the class described, the combination of side wall: body elements,
sheave carrying yokes adjustably positioned at either end of the top side of the bodyelements, and a clamping head removably secured to the body element and positioned between the yokes disposed at either end of the top side of the bodyv element;

In a device of the class described, the combination or" side wall body elements spaced apart and connected with a cross bar at either end, an adjustable yoke carrying a sheave'disposed at either end of the body elements and in registerablc alignment wlth the connecting crossbars, ad usting means connecting each of the cross bars and the yokes, and a clamping head removably secured to the clamping pressure of the clamping head.
6. In a device of the class described, the combination of a body element composed of two side walls and spaced apart by cross bars disposed adjacent-the top side of either end of the body element, a yoke adjustably positioned at either end of the body element and in registerable alignment with each of the cross bars of the body element, sheaves carried by the adjustable yoke, and a clamping head removably secured to the body element and the supporting line passing through the clamping head, said line contacting with the sheaves when in normal position and remaining in a straight line.
7. In a device of the class described, the combination of a body element composed of J two side wall members spaced apart and adjustable sheaves and a clamping head carried within the side wall members and adapted to permit the supporting line to pass through the clamping head, said line contacting with the sheaves when the sheaves are in normal position and remaining in. substantially a straight line. 7
8. In a device of the class described, the combination of a body element composed of side wall members spaced apart, adjustable sheaves and a clamping head disposed adjacent the top side of the body element and adpated to contact simultaneously with a supporting line to form three points of supporting contact with the line and a shackle depending from the bottom side of the body elements.
9. In a device of the class described, the combination of a body element composed of side wall members connected together their top sides to form an integrally formed body element, a clamping head removably secured to the body element and sheaves adjustably positioned at either side of the clamping head and adapted to ride upon the line passing through the clamping head and a shackle removably secured to the side wall members and depending therefrom.

In a device of the class described, the combination in a onepiece body element of spaced side Walls, a pair of adjustable yokes carrying sheaves mounted the upper side of the body element, a clamping head removably secured to the body element and the clamping head being positioned midway between each of the sheave carrying yokes and ashackle depending from the lower side walls of the body element and rockably secured thereto.
11. In a device of the class described, a body element, a clamping head and a yoke carryinga sheave disposed at either side of the clamping head and spaced therefrom and a swivel rockably secured to' the body element.
12. In a device of the class described, a one piece body element, an adjustable clamping head removably secured to the central section ofthetop side of the body element, a yoke carrying a sheave adjustably secured to the body element and one each disposed at either end of the clamping head, and a shackle mounted upon a shackle bolt removably secured to the central section of the bottom side of the body element.
