In the present invention the mechanically acting machine parts, which are adjusted by the jacquard device for the purpose of selecting thejweft thread to be inserted in the shed, can remain in their adjusted position, if the same adjustmentis successively made in the same manner, that is to say, said devices can 1 remain in anad'justed position as longas the repetition of the same adjustment continues. This is achieved by interrupting the forward movement of the jacquard icarddrive by means of a variable control mechanism comprising a system of feed discs adapted to interrupt the forward movement of the he l5 quard card for any length of time.

Referring to the drawings, the ratchet wheel dis rigidly secured to the shaft 1 (Fig. 1) of the card cylinder Qfor the jacquard card 3, and the teeth of the ratchet wheel 4 mesh with the pawl tooth 5 which swings about the shaft "6 journaled in the bearing boxes 7 1) and adapted tobc moved by shaft 1 and adapted to slide longitudinally; 435 The bar 12 slides in a guide 13 kept in position by the arms 14 swinging about the shaft 6. The arms 14: are united by a bolt 15 with the pawl 5 so as to form a rigid unit. To move the bearings 7 forward and backward 50 in the slots 8, a bell crank 17 18 is pivoted at 16, and the arm 18 of said lever is provided at its upper endwith ashiftable fork 19 which oflever 18, 19 will causethe lever 18,019 to swing about its axis'and thereby shift the shaftG to the extent indicated by m which is equal to one movement of the feed wheel. The device functions as followsz,
. The'forward movement of the feed cylinder 2 can take place only, the pawl 5 can befbrought into engagement with the teeth of the ratchet wheel lkeyed' with the feed cylinder to a common shaft. However, the pawl 5 can mesh with the teeth of the ratchet wheel a ay, if the tooth of the member 11 can'enter one of the deep slots 21 of one of the intermediate feed ,discs 10, for the posi -I I ,tion of the pawl 5 relative to :thatof the them forward and backward in the slot member 11 isfixe'd o nce for all by the bolt 15 with the result thatthe pawl 5 cannot get withinlreach of theteeth of the ratchet wheel 4 unless it goes deep enough down, This greater orlesser lowering of thepawl is reg ulated by the circumference of the feed dies 10 whose deep slots are spaced in a certain manner insuring perfect timing. During the rest of the time the tooth of the membeil' 11 is raised only slightlyand, owing to the shallow slot-s, adapted to a normal tooth,
cannot drop down beyond the tooth depth.
As already stated, the tooth 11 is always moved rhythmically in the general direction l indicated by the arrows shown in Fig. 2 as crossing lever arm 18, and if it does not enter one of the deeper slots, its motion simply moves forward the loosely attached discs 10. is soon as the tooth 11 enters one of the deep slots, it naturally can be lowered much more and with it the pawl 5 with the result that the pawl 5 gets within reach of the teeth of the ratchet wheel. at and the latter is moved one step during the feed motion.
The device referred to serves for keeping the hooks, &c., taken in by the jacquard device in their adjusted position as long as the repetition of the same adjustment continues.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In a jacquard card driving mechanism for looms, a card cylinder, a pawl and ratchet wheel drive mechanism for intermittently retat-ing the same, a series of feed disks loosely. rotatable on the card cylinder shaft and provided with notches ditlerent in number and depth for variable feed actions, a control pawl engageable with the notches of any of the disks and connected with the drive pawl for shifting the latter into and out of engagement with the teeth of the ratchet wheel, and means for shifting the control pawl relative to the disks for relative engagement with any disk.
2. In a jacquard card driving mechanism for looms, a card cylinder, a pawl and ratchet wheel drive i'nechanism for intermittently ro tating the same, a series of feed disks loosely rotatable on the card cylinder shaft and provided with notches different in number and depth for variable feed actions, a control pawl engageable with the notches of any of the disks and connected with the drive pawl for shifting the latter into and out of engager ment with the teeth of the ratchet wheel, a slide for adjusting the control pawl. for shifting the same to engage any of the disks, means for variably shifting. the slide, and means for actuating the slide and pawls for reci iirecating the latter for a feed action.
3. A device according to claim 1 wherein the feed disks are provided with circumferential notches 0t dilierent depths, the num: her and grouping of said notches about the circumference of each disk relative to one another being the same on the same disks but differing on different disks to impart different teed values to different disks.
