Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,297, dated J une 6, 1876; application filed November 28, 1874.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, FREDERICK HIRSOHY, HENRY L. KORTE, and HERMAN F. AcHAUER, of the city of Zanesville, in the county of Muskingum, in the State of Ohio, have invented a new Hotel Room-Indicator, with keyboard attached; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of our invention consists in attaching, by a bar, a bell to an indicator, and in attaching to the indicator a key-board.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of our improved indicator, showing the exterior of the same; Fig. 2, a plan or-g top view, with the upper part of the casing removed to show the operating mechanism; Fig. 3, a perspective view of the dial indicator-bar, with number attached; Fig. 4, a detached view of the lever and springs; Fig. 5, the catch and spring of the door-indicator.

This invention has relation to that class of devices known as hotel room-ind icators;

and the object of the present invention is to produce an indicator simplein construction and perfect in its operation, the same having attached a bar, bell, and key-board, in connection with the several operating devices, which will be hereinafter described, and subsequently pointed out in the claim.

In the drawings, Ais designed to represent ahorizontally-sliding bar, to one end of which are attached a bell-wire and bell of any suitable form or construction. The bar A is operated by a wire, Q, said wire being connected to pivoted levers E K, causing them to press on attachment H, fastened to the bar A, thereby springing the indicator and exhibiting the 7 number of the room or place from which the call is made.

as above described, the same operating mechanism being employed in each alternative device.

The reactive power is furnished to the levers E K by springs F, the samepower being furnished to bolt-indicator D by'spiral spring G, to door-indicator P by spring 0, and to dial-bar M by spring I. A brace, L, forms a guide for the spring F.

Having now fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combination, with an indicating-plate, bolt, or dial-bar, having a suitable catch and spring, as described, of a horizontal bar, A, carrying attachments H, and the pivoted le-. vers E K, with springs F, the spring B, bellwire 0, and bell R, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
