The device has great utility and makes possible the combination of advertising and merchandising. It is a convenient means of keeping accurate data of record which is always within the reach of the operator and by which it may be readily ascertained if the operating parts of the automobile should be serviced. Moreover, the device conceals the recording plate and keeps the record thereon perfectly clean and legible. The recording plate is pulled outwardly when, entries are to be made and pushed inwardly thereafter.
Having described my invention what I claim is 1. A record carrying device for automobiles comprising a fiat elongated case having edge portions terminating in flanges projecting inwardly of the case and adapted to support thereon a writing plate and an upwardly extending transverse frame por tion at one end and adapted to bear upon the front side of the instrument board, an upwardly extending lug mounted on the upper side of the case and having an obliquely disposed screw threaded head portion, and a supporting and adjusting screw rod operably mounted in the oblique head on said lug, and adapted to engage the inner side of the angle portion of an automobile instrument board to supportingly adjust the case on the same.
2. The combination, in a record carrying device-for automobiles, of a flat elongated case having edge portions terminating in flanges projecting inwardly of the case and adapted to support thereon a writing plate and an upwardly extending portion at its forward end and forming with the body of the case an angle adapted to register with the angle portion of the lower edge of an automobile instrument board, and a screw rod mounted on the upper side of the case at an oblique angle to engage the inner cornerof the angleportion of the instrument board to supportingly adjust the case in close relation'to the angle of the lower portion of the instrument board.
3. A record carrying device for automobiles comprising a sheet metal blank bent into shape to provide a flat elongated holder section having edge portions terminating in flanges projecting inwardly of the holder section and adapted to support thereon a writto register with the angle of the lower portion of an automobile instrument board, there being an opening in the bent up section adapted to display therein publicity matter, an upwardly extending lug formed on the upper side of the holder section and provided with an obliquely disposed hollow screw threaded head portion, a screw threaded rod operably mounted in the head on said lug and adapted to engage the inner corner of the angle of the lower portion of the instrument board to support the device thereon in operative position and to force the device into close relation with the angle portion of the lower edge of the instrument board.
