ceived by said recesses or notches, a set nut securing the standard at the under side of the stationary base, and an adjustment nut operative upon the threaded socket with relation to saidv studs or pins land' said notches 4. Ina paper cutter ofthe class described, a standard, a cutting bladecarried by said standard and mounted for operative relation to a roll of paper, a mounting socket receiving the end of said standard, means for positionally securing the standard in said socket, lmeans for adjustably varying the opf erative secured position of said. standard in .fthe standard with said socket at any ofv its its connection with the mounting socket forl altering the position of the cutting blade with relation to the paper roll, and supplementary means for locking the connection of variable steps of adjustment.
, ing means engaged by the vstandard against `ses 5. In a paper cutter of the class described a i standard, acuttingblade carried'fby saidst andard and mounted forvoperative relation to a roll of paper, a mounting socket receiving the end of said standard and providedwith seatstandard extendingl into thebore-block of the rollofpaper. c ,3 y f Y y 8. In a paper cutter ofthe class described, comprising means for revolubly carrying a roll of paper Vwound `upon a bore block, a frame, a `tubular socket in said frame and in alignment with the' axis lof the bore block when the paper roll is in 4position and to afford a free space lon one kendof the block, a"
retaining pinmovablymounted insai'd tubular socket and adapted to enter the bore block,
a tapered ferrule lfreely-mounted on said re# taining pin' between the socket, and the bore block and atensile device-mounted between said socketand Said'ferrule'and mounted to force said ferrule against one end of the bore block when the paper roll is in position and resiliently oppose the tendencyl of the block to move in the bore of the roll of paper under the lateral pull thereon when the latterjis turning.
In testimony whereof I have signed the foregoing specifications.
lateral movement thereof, adjustable means for positionally securing the standard in its seated connection with said socket, and supplementary adjustment means carried by the socket for varying the seated connection of the standard therewith, whereby the operative secured position of the standard may be V varied for alteringthe position of the cutting blade with relation to the paper roll.
6. In a paper cutter of the kind described for revolubly mounting in vertical position, a -roll of paper having a bore-block, the combination of a stationary base, a revolving baseV mounted thereon to support the roll yof paper and the bore-block, a standard attached to the stationary base and having one end extending over the roll of paper, a retaining pin carried by the standard to project into the bore-block, a tapered ferrule on said pin -to enterthe bore-block, and a j spring for forcing the ferrule into the boreblock, whereby paper rolls having boreblocks of varying inside diameters can be disjusting the standard with respect to the base,
one end of said standard extending over the roll of paper, and means comprising a spring e pressed tapered member on said end of the MEYNARDIE NELSON. Y
