An obj ect of this invention is to provide an 1 adjusting mechanism having means for compensating for variations in the alignment of different portions thereof.

In the construction oflamps,`particularly of the headlight type, it isi customary to mount a reflector substantially rigidly in a casing, to adjustably mount a lamp vbulb on the reflector and -t-o mount a member-on the casing for adjusting the said lamp bulb.

manufacture of .the lamp, these openings will be aligned when the reflector is mounted within the casing. In actual commercial production, however, it has been found, that while it is a comparatively simple matter to form the openings centrally of the reflector and casing, it is next to impossible to so perA- fectly form allthe reflectors and all of the casings that when any reflector is assembled with any casing, the openingsin the two will be aligned; y Obviously, if when the-reflector is mounted within the casing, the openings in the reflector andpcasing are not aligned, diflivculty is experienced in installing the adjusting mechanism since, Vas lbrought out before, one portion ofthis adjusting mechanism is mounted in the opening in the casing and the other portion of thesame iscarried .by or mounted in the opening in the reflector.
To overcome this difficulty and lto facilitate the commercialA production of the reflectors A and lamp casings, without particular regard to the alignment of the openings in Ithese` y members when the same are assembled, this invention contemplates the. provision of means whereby compensation may be readily made for any variation in the alignment of the openin'gfin the reflector with the opening in the casing# A A Further in 'some forms of lamps, it is desirable, for the purpose of obtaining acertain reflection of the light rays from the lamp bulb, to mount the lamp bulb toone side of the A center of the reflector. f Obviously such a mounting of the lamp bulb positions ,the r same to one side ofthe openinginthe lamp casing, so that the same difficulty arises inthe installation of adjusting mechanism in a lamp* of 'this character l'as arises when the lamp A bulb is out of alignment with the 'opening in the lamp casing by virtue of slight inaccura-V ciesV of manufacture.; This .invention will f therefore also find of this character. v v A Y Referring now particularlyto the drawings wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout all views of the same, thereis disclosed a lamp,

Carried by the threaded member 24 is a head 8'3" provided with the arms 88 bent their ends for engagement in the diametrically opposite slots 36 and 36. The arms 38 may be provided with heads 39 whereby they may be secured agiinst disconnection from these slots.
The pin is provided with a head 1i() similar to the head and with the arms 4l bent at their ends 'for engagement in the other pair oit' diametricaliy opposed slots 36 and 36. The arms il are also provided with heads i2 whereby they may be maintained in engagement With their Vrespe'ltivc slots.v
