This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in household utilities and it refers more particularly to an apparatus for washing dishes, pots, pans, cutlery and the like, its principal object residing 1n the provision of such an apparatus of simple and'economical construction adapted to contain a suitable soap or detergent of a dissolvent character, and attachable to the conventional sink faucet to establish water circulation through the container, and by which hot or cold soapy water is provided, aordingha quick and sanitary means of cleansing dis es Another object of the 'invention resides in the provision of a novel valve arrangement by which to by-pass the water to escape the soap container when it is desired to rinse the dishes to remove soap therefrom.
Still another obj ect of the invention resides in the provision of exible hose connections to facilitate connection to the faucet, and to permit of universal application of the discharge, and upon the end of the latter is provided a brush applicator to enable the operator to cleanse the dishes without necessity of inunersingv the hands in the hot soapy water.

Continuing now more in detail with the invention, the character 1 designates preferably a square container for soap, the latter 5e being inserted through opening, having -a `erating stem 15, is mounted within the hous- 1927. Serial N0. 207,625.

The novel triple valve embodying the invention is illustrated clearly in Figure 3A and is composed of a housing 3, secured by screws 4 to the annular rim 5, encircling the opening a in the soap container l, and for reasons later explained, the sides of the housing are arranged at a slight angle as shown.
The housing is provided with an inlet 6 and an outlet 7, respectively, into which are threaded nipples 8. The flexible hose 9 is secured by clamp 10 to the nipple 8 on the inlet1side, and, as apparent in the reduced View Figure 4, is adapted to be connected to the faucet 11, supplying either hot or cold water as desired. The hose 12, connected to the outlet 7, may be of any suitable length l and carries upon its end, as also apparent in. Figure 4, a brush appllcator 13 preferably of the construction shown, but w ich may be vreplaced by other types of brushes vto suit dierent occasions.
The valve body 14, having an integral oping 3, and its sides being likewise arranged at a slightangle, conforms with the shape of the housinv. The valve body is provided with opposedobores 16 and 17 extending upward from the bottom and out through the side in such manner as to. communicate with the inlet and outlet 6 and 7 as shown, when it is desired to pass the Water through the container 1. In order to insure thorough circulation of water through the container to obtainthe Abest results through dissolving the detergent within the container 1, a short pipe 18 is threaded into the inlet bore 16, and depends within the container as shown. The water circulation is thus established as indicated by the .arrows in Figure 3, carrying with it through the bore 17 and -hose 12 the soapy water mixed by the swirling action of y the water within the container 1. To prevent undue dissolution of the soap b water remaining in the container 1, adrain p ug 20 is provided in the bottom of the latter.

No novelty is herein claimed for this connection, but is shown merely -to illustrate the preferred manner of application.

For better results, a wire mesh basket with a multiplicity of compartments may be employed in connection with the invention'in order that the dishes may be supported ina position to drain when washed, and to hold position for application of the brush, 13.
The handle 27 is turned to one extreme to aline the bores 16 and 17 with the inlet and outlet 6 and 7 respectively. The water thus enters the container and the swirling action tnereof'agitates the soap and creates a mix ture, which passes through the hose 12 and into the brush 13, which is applied to the article to be cleansed.
After thoroughly washing the dishes, the handle 27 is moved to the other extreme toV aline the lateral passage 19 with the inlet and outlet. The water thus bypasses the container and the soap is undisturbed, permitting the articles to be rinsed with clear water.
.It is obvious from the foregoing that dishes and similar articles may be thoroughly Accordingly Vand in operation, the improved dish washer is mounted substantially cleansed in a strictl sanitary manner without requiring that t e hands be immersed in the hot soapy water.
Manii'estly the construction shown is capable of consi erable modification, and such modification as is in keeping with the appended claims is considered within the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
1. The combination in a. fluid mixing apparatus-of a detergent container having an opening in its top and a. drainage port; a valve casing mounted over said opening having an inlet and an outlet; a valve member arranged in said casing and capable of rotation and having a fluid passage connecting said inlet with the interior of said container, and a fluid passage connecting the interior of said container with said outlet; said valve member also having a fluid passage adapted n to connect said inlet and outlet to bypass clear water through the machine, means to discharge ingressing fluid near the bottom of said container and means to 4eect rotation of said valve member to selectively register said fluid passages with said inlet and-outlet.
2. The combination in a fluid mixing apparatus of a detergent container having an opening in its to and a drainage port, and further having aller opening forwardly of said first opening; a tapered valve casing arranged on said first opening having an inlet and an outlet; a correspondingly tapered valve member in said casing having a fluid passage to effect communication be-l tween said inlet and container, and further having a fluid passage to effect discharge of mixed tluid from said container; said valve member also having a fluid bypass to effect communication between said inlet and outlet; means connected to said first passage to effect discharge of fluid into said container at a point near its bottom; means to rotate'said valve member and means tonormally impart upward urge to said valve member to maintain snug relationship between the latter and its casing.
3.' A dish washing machine comprlsing a container provided with a relatively large opening in the upper side thereof, a valve housing attached to said container and registering with said opening, a valve rotatably mounted in said housing and provided with stem projecting loosely through the upper part of said housing for operating the valve, said housing having lateral inlet and outlet openings, said valve having an inlet opening adapted to register with the inlet opening of said housing and an outlet opening adapted to register with the outlet opening of said housing and having openings in the lower part thereof communicating with said inlet and outlet openings for vcirculating fluid through said container, and having a horizontal opening therethrough adapted to corniso mv'mee municate with said inlet and outlet openings simultaneously for circulating clear water for rinsing purposes, and a. pipe screwed into said valve for receiving Huid from said inlet openings and for mixing or stirring the water and the detergent.
