Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,391, dated May 16, 1876; application filed April 12, 1876. I
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, L. BACON Foss, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Watering-Pot Sprinkler-Head, of which the following is a specification:
This invention is an improvement on the sprinkler-head for wateringpots patented to me February 29, 1876, and consists in extending the nozzle into the coned body a distance sufficient to enable the delivery of a solid stream to clear the flaring edge of the cone when the perforated cap or rose is removed.
I will explain the invention with the aid of the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which A is the spout of a watering-pot, extending into the cone B, as shown, and forming the nozzle A. O is the detachable rose or sprinkler-head, which is locked to the cone B by conical screw-couplings. D is a hole in the nozzle A, at its junction with the cone, through which the water may escape from the cone when the Watering-pot is upright.
By this construction spray or a solid stream of Water may be used at will, for,-by detaching the perforated cap, I expose the nozzle, so
arranged Within the cone that a solid stream may be thrown without interference with the projecting edge of the cone.
To provide for the escape of any Water that might remain in the cone after using the rose I perforate the nozzle, as shown at D, that the water may flow back into the watering-pot.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States l. The combination of the cone-shaped body -B, provided with the detachable rose, substantially as described, with the spout of a watering-pot extended into the same and forming the nozzle A, substantially as described.
