It'will be observed that when'upward movement of the drag section is initiated, the studs or pins 17 provided on the upper end of the patterns 7 are removed from the eye section 19, and the latter-are retained in the upper ends of Y the pockets 40. It has been` found by providing the bores 13 in the bolts 11 and also the similar bores in theheads 15 that any tendency on the part of the eye sections to follow the patterns is eliminated. Were these ports or bores omittedthere wouldbe a tendency of the eye sections to cling to the upper ends of the patterns, due possibly to a partial vacuum produced in the eye sections when the pins or Vstuds 17 are being removed from the extensions 18. The ports or bores effectively prevent the formation of such a suction or par-V tial vacuum and therefore allow readyseparation between the eye sections and the patterns.
