OPERATING DEVICE FOR COKE-OVEN DOORS Application filed. October 12, 1927,Seria1 No. 225,746, and in Germany October 13, 1926/ My invention consists in a device for re moving and replacing the doors of horizon tal coke oven chambers which device is provided with a rigid guide and so constructed that thedoor is removed, the coke pushed through the guide and the doorreplaced, while the device remains constantly in exactly the same position before the particular oven. v
In the accompanying drawings,1which re present diagrammatically an embodiment of the invention, Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the device seen in the direction towards the oven, Fig. 2 is aside elevation as a vertical middle cross-section on the line 22 of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a plan view taken onthe section line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
The apparatus consists mainly of a traveller a movable longitudinally in front of the oven battery; the traveller is supported below by rollers 72 running on a rail 03 fixed to the platform 0, and above by rollers 6 running on a rail f laid on the top of the oven battery. A rigid guide it for use when the colte is being discharged and consisting of a pair of vertical grate-like structures is arranged on the traveller a. Above this guide it is a crane jib la. The jib is supported by a pivot pin 6 at the end adjacent the ovens, and at the outer. end is supported and guided by rollers n running one horizontal circular are m. A trolley r with a supporting girder 8 extending downwards travels on the jib 7c; the coke oven door 25, which is here shown as a so-called plug door, can be suspended on the support 8 by holdin attachments u, v. The motors and gearings required for the working are omitted from the drawings.
In operation, the device is moved in front of the oven :0, so that theguideh lies, in the plan view, directly'in the horizontal axls of the oven and the jib 7c is positioned into the same oven axis as indicated in Fig. 3 by full lines; in this position it is, therefore, in line with the guide it. The trolley r is moved with the supporting girder .9 along the jib 70 towards the oven until it is close before the door If to be removed. The latter is secured to the devices a and o; and is freely suspended and can now be moved by the trolley r rearcomprising a traveller movable-in front of wards through the guide it until it reaches the position outsidethe guide 7L indicated in Fig. .2. The jib Z5 is now swung horizontally to one side, rotating about the pivot pini, and is guided alongthe are m by means of the rollers 11. until it has reached theposition shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3. In this position the door 2? has been removed out of the way of the discharging coke and the guide it. The oven in can now, therefore, be emptied and the coke pushed through the guide hon a ramp, for example an inclined ramp 2, as
shown in Fig. 2, or on to a loading device.
When thisv has been effected, the-jib 7a is swung back into its foregoing central position, the trolley 72 with the suspended door 15 is moved back through the guide it and the door is again replaced in the oven w. The apparatus, which during the whole working process described maintains unaltered its position in front of the oven m, is now. ready for serving anyother oven of the battery.
The apparatus can be used in connection with stationary horizontal or inclined coke ramps or with mechanical loading devices of anv construction. v
What I claim is a 1. A device for removing and replacing thedoors of horizontal cokeoven chambers,
the ovens, a guide attached to said traveller for guiding the coke tobe discharged, a jib mounted on said traveller above saidguide, a vertical pivot pin on said traveller about which said jib can turnhorizontally and a horizontal circular are on said traveller guiding and supporting the outer end of said jib, a trolley travelling on said jib and means for supporting the door from said trolley,
2. A device for removing, and replacing. the doors of horizontal coke oven chambers, comprising a traveller movable in front of the ovens, a guide. attachedto said traveller for guiding the coke to be discharged, a jib mounted on said traveller above said guide, a vertical pivot pin on said traveller about which said jib can turn horizontally and a horizontal are shaped track onsaid'traveller guidingand supporting the outer end of said jib, a trolleytravelling on said jib, a girder suspended from said trolley and means for attaching the door to'said girder. I
3. A device for removing and replacing the doors of horizontal coke oven chambers, comprising a traveller movable in front of and in close proximity to the ovens, a guide attached to said traveller for guiding the coke to be discharged, and means carried by the traveller for supporting the door for movement bodily towards and away from the ovens in a horizontal plane through the said guide, said means permitting lateral movement of the door to either side of the guide after having passed the guide.
4. A device for removing and replacing the doors of horizontal coke oven chambers, comprising a traveller movable in front of the ovens, a guide attached to said traveller for guiding the coke to be discharged, a jib pivotally mounted on said traveller above said guide, an arcuate track support for the jib, a trolley travelling on said jib towards and away from saidovens, and means for supporting the door from said trolley.
5. A device for removing and replacing the doors of horizontal coke oven chambers,
comprising a traveller movable in front of the ovens, a platform below said traveller, a rail on said platform, a rail on the top of the oven battery, rollers secured to said traveller running on said rails, a guide attached to said traveller for guiding the coke to be discharged and means carried by the traveller for supporting the door for movement towards and away from the ovens through the said guide, said means permitting lateral movement of the door to either side of said guide.
6. In combination, a bank of horizontal coke ovens and a platform in front of and in close proximity to the discharge ends thereof, a traveller supported by said ovens and platform and arranged to move across the discharge end of said ovens, spaced coke guiding elements carried by the traveller and adapted to be arranged on either side of the axis of an oven chamber, means carried by said traveller for supporting an oven door for movement bodily towardand away from anoven chamber through said guides in line with the axis of the oven and in a horizontal plane, said means being oscillatable in either direction topermit lateral movement of therdoor to either side of the oven axis after having passed the guiding elements.
- 7. In combination in a bank of horizontal coke ovens and a platform extending across the front of the same, a traveller supported upon said ovens and platform and arranged to move across the discharge end of the same, a pair of spaced guide elements carried by said-traveller, a vertical pivot pin arranged intermediate the guide elements above the same, an arcuate track carried by the traveller, ajib pivoted on said pin and HERMANN PETSCI-I.
