Description
Aug. 5', 1930. M. J. COLE BABY BOTTLE PROTECTOR AND HEAT RETAINER Filed March 20, 1929 Ill/IL V! B a I 0MBv Patented Aug. 5, 1930 MAQTTZHIEW J. com, on 3 66mm; new YORK BABY-BOTTLE rnorncroanun Hana. RETAINER Application filed Mama,
This invention relates generally to protectors and has more particular reference to a novelbaby bottle protector and heat retainer.
The invention has for an object the provision of; a device of the class mentioned,
which is of simple durable construction, desirable in use and efficient in action, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
ber container provided with a flannel lining and made of a top and bottom section separable forpermit'ting the insertionof a baby bottle. "A nipple may be engaged upon the top end of. the top section which is reduced for receiving the nipple. Ameansmay be provided for normally holdingthe top and bottom sections in engaged positions. Window apertures are formed; in thecontainer for permitting an inspection of the contents thereof.
For further comprehension of'the invention, and of the objects and advantages there of, reference will be had to the following deecription and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of theinvention are more particularly set forth. In the accompanying drawing, forming a 3-0 material part of this disclosure Fig. 1 is .a side elevational view of a device constructed according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional View thereof. Fig. 4c is a View similar to Fig. 1, but disclosing a modification thereof.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view, taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 41.
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary vertical sectional 4 view, taken on the line 66' of Fig. 4'.
Fig. 7 is a fragmentary vertical sectional View, taken on the line 7 7 of Fig. 6.- i 8 isa similar view toFig. 7 showing a modified form of joining my bottle protector.
The reference numeral 10 indicates generally a rubber container having a top section 11 and a bottom section 12.v The top end of the top section has'areduced neck 13 with flange sections 14 for'receiving a nipple 15. V
The lower end ofthe top section has a re The inventionproposes the use of a rubthe wall forming the container. The co-axial side of the container to the very bottom thereduced portion 16- for engagingwithin an increased opening 17 in the top ofthe lower section 12. The arrangement is such that the sections may snugly fit together and frictionally maintain their engaged positions. 4
Eachnof the sections are provided with a flannel lining 18 or any othersuitable padding'ma'ter'ial for engagingagainst the, sides of 'a baby-=bottle and aiding in maintaining the heat thereof. A plurality of fall absorbing projections 19 project fromeachof thesectionsof the container for striking the ground and absorbing the shock; in the event tdhat the container and contained bottle is re I 7 plurality of window apertures 20 are formed ma vertical row in the container, both the top and lower sections for permitting an inspection of the contents thereof. The in ner flannel lining l8"necessarily must have 1 similar apertures aligned with the. apertures 20 for permitting the said" inspection. Pref" erably several of the projections 19should be arrangedfon'the lower'end of the container for acting as legs in supporting the container in a vertical position.
yln the'modified form oflthe device illus trated in Figs. 1, 5 and 6 the top section is shown with a projecting pin 21 near its lower edge engaging in a bayonetslot22 formedin the bottom section at its top edge. Anipple lever23 ispivotally mounted intermediate of its ends as at 24: on the outer side of the contamer and has an inner end 25 projecting into 5-, spring 26 normally tends to urge'the, outer end of the lever 23 outwards. A flexible stiff wire 26 connects at its top end with the inner end 25 and passes thru an opening 27 inthe.
of. In the closed condition of the container with the pm 21 completely within the bayonet slot 22 an aperture 28 aligns with the opening 27 so that when a nipple is engaged upon the top of the container, the nipple lever 23 will be movedinwards for moving the wire 26 downwards into the aperture 28 and locking the sections of the container against rotation so that the pin 21 cannot be withdrawn from the bayonet slot.
lOQ
As shown in Fig. 7 the top section 16 is pro vided with a plurality of male members 16 of the snap fasteners adapted to engage a plurality of corresponding female members 17 I secured to reduced portions 17 of the top section 11. In Fig. 8 the reduced portion 16 is made to interlock with a reduced portion 17 7 of the top section 11. c
'Whi1e I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do-not'limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and p the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the in: vention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, 'what I claimas new, fand desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is v 1. A baby bottle protector and heat retainer, comprising a container of rubber with a flannel lining, and consisting of an upper and a lower section oined for separating upon relative rotation, the top of the upper section being reduced for receiving a nipple,- a lever pivotally mounted on said reduced portion and arranged for depression upon the engagement of awnipple and upon depression moving: a'wire for latching the sections igainstrotation. Y
2. A baby bottle protector and heat-retainer, comprising a container of rubber with a flannel lining,-and consisting of an upper andslower-section joined for separatingv upon relative rotation, the top of the upper section being reduced for receiving-a nipple, a. lever pivotally mounted on said reduced portion and-arranged for depression upon the: engagement of a nipple and upon depression :moving-fa wire for latching the sections against rotation, said'wire passing-thru a longitudinal aperture in the side of the icontainer upper section and. upon said motion engaging 1 in --.an;laperture' in the container lower section.
In-itestimonywhereof I have afiixed my signature.
I I J. COLE.
