This invention relates to tanning fur skins,

This method consists in-the following:
7 After the skins are limed, hated and' pickled in the usual manner they areplaced a revolving drum containing formaldehyde in which they are treated fora perlod of about three-quarters of an hour; Thereupon V sod oil or other degras such as Moellen degras dissolved in soap and soda is added to the tormaldehyde bath and the treatment of the skins therein continued until the same become tanned. The skins are removed, washed, dried, and secured.
F or clarity in this specification the following definitions of theterms used above are given.
Degras may be defined as any and all greases extracted from oil tanned skins.
Moellen degras may be defined as the do-- gras pressed out from skins tanned with 1 o 7 see 011.
Sod oil may be defined as the greases obtained by washing the oil tanned skins in an alkali such as soda or potash solution and treating the fat liquor obtained with sulto said bath degras dissolved in soap and soda the treatment is continued until the skins become tanned, then they are washed,
dried and scoured.
