Description
y 15, 1930- P. L. CONTREAU WATCH FASTENING DEVICE Filed July 1, 1.929
Inventor PIE/re le bn (WA 7R5)!!! By W ti.
His Attorney Patentedduly 15, 1939 PIERRE LEON CONTREAU, OF PARIS, FRANCE WATCH-FASTENING DEVICE Application filed July 1, 1929, Serial No. 375,110, and in Luxemburg July 5, 1928.
My invention relates to a watch combined with a clamping article of jewelry.
Said watch is characterized in this that it is provided with a U-shaped flexible member I: rigid with the case of the watch and disposed in a way to be placed astride on the fabric forming the front of the pocket of the inent, when the watch is placed in said pocket,
a lever being pivoted on the extremity which 10 is exterior the pocket of the U-shaped memher, said lever being provided near its pivot point with a pressure member disposed in a way to press the fabric against the case.
The invention will be more readily understood by those skilled in the art to whichthe invention relates in the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing in which' Fig. 1 illustrates a front elevational view of a watch constructed according to the invention in place in the pocket;
Fig. 2 is a section taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a side View with the jaw of the device open;
Fig. 4 is'a view looking from beneath with the jaw closed; and
Fig. 5is a View similar to Fig. 3 with the lever in inclined position forming an easel.
Referring to the drawing more in detail, m illustrates a watch-case. A member a is rendered rigid with thesaid watch-case f0 and is bent in the form of a U. On the free extremityrof said member a are provided two 4 is placed in the pocket of the clothes in such hinge members Z) and 0 between which is a way that the member a of U-shape falls astride the exterior flap w of the fabric of the clothes (Figs. 1 and 2). The plate is subsequently turned down on the member y of the clothes so that the bar 9 firmly clamps the part 3/ against the watch-case m. The memher a in this way assures by its flexible nature the securing of the watch in the pocket and the plate o forms a decorative article of jewelry. Y
My device is particularly suitable for those who engage in sports as the watch is securely held in the pocket irrespective of the position occupied by the wearer thereof.
It is to be noted that the plate 6 may serve as an easel for utilizing the watch as a travelleidsclock. For this purpose it is merely necessary to place the plate 6 in an inclined position with the bar 9 bearing against the watch-case a: as shown in Fig. 5.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A watch fastening device of the type described comprising a U-shaped member adapted to be secured to the upper part of the watch and overlap the upper edge of a pocket flap, a pivotally mounted plate carried by the free extremity of said U-shaped member said plate being of sufiicient length to form an easel of said watch when moved to an inclined position and means carried by said plate for pressing said flap against said watch when said plate is moved to a position against said flap, said last mentioned means being adapted to engage said watch when removed from said pocket and said plate is placed in inclined position.
2. A watch fastening device of the type de scribed comprising a U-shaped member adapted to be secured to the upper part of the watch and overlap the upper edge of a pocket flap, a pivotally mounted plate carried by the free extremity of said U-shaped mem her said plate being of suiiicient length to form an easel of said watch when moved to an inclined position and a small bar adapted to be swung by said plate for pressing said flap against said watch when said plate is moved to a position against said flap, said bar being adapted to engage said watch when removed from said pocket and said plate is placed in inclined position.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
PIERRE LEON CONTREAU.
