PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT AEBI AND FRANCOIS JEANTET, O'F GENEVA, SWITZERLAND.
PINGH SUPPORT FOR GARMENTS (WOVEN OE KNITTED GOODS).
Application filed October 23, 1922. Serial No. 596,466.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ALBERT AEBI and FRANQOIS JEANTET, citizens of Switzerland and France, respectively, residing at Geneva, Canton of Geneva, in the Confederation of Switzerland, hve invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pinch Supports for Garments (lVoven or Knitted Goods), of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is an improvement in pinch-supports for garments, particularly adapted to suspend a pair of drawers to the waist-band of the pantaloons, but which may also be used for supporting other woven or knitted garments either for ladies or gentlemen, the pinch holding the stuff tightly without risk of damaging it.
The essential feature of the pinch-support consists in the combination of a member, formed so that it may be hooked onto the rim of a garment, is provided with a loop whose edges are rounded off, a first lever which pivots on said member, and a second lever pivoting on the first lever and having a knob whose head is rounded oft and which is adapted to press the stuff into said loop with smooth edges, the pivot of the second lever being arranged with regard to the pivot of said first lever in such a manner that the knob may engage within the loop and that when thereafter the first lever is pressed onto the second lever the cloth which covers the knob is pinched between the latter and the loop.
The attached drawing shows on an enlarged scale, by way of example, a working form of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view and Fig. 2 is a side view of the open pincher.
Fig. 3 is a side View, partly in section, of the pincher in position to engage the stuff into the loop.
Fig. 4: is a side view, partly in section, of the pinch-support when closed, with a piece of cloth pressed between the button and the edges of the loop.
a is a punched metal member provided with a hook 6 adapted to be hooked for instance onto the waist-band of a pair of pants, and with a loop 0 whose edges are bent round by the punch to form a roll within which the stuff or cloth may be engaged without being damaged.
The member 0; has also two ears d, in which a first lever may swivel on a metal tube 6 with riveted ends. The lever f is also provided with two ears 5/ in which by means of the metal tube It with riveted ends a second lever 2' carrying a knob 72 may swivel. The knob 76 is covered with the stuff or cloth a", for instance the waist-band of a pair of drawers which then is pressed into the loop 0 of the member a as shown in Fig. 3.
When the first lever f is pressed down onto the second lever 2', the latter is pushed downwards and the stuff 00 is pinched between the knob is and the edge of the loop 0.
The pinclnsupport may be constructed and suitably ornamented in different ways. Y
In the working form as represented it consists of three pinched pieces and two small tubes which constitute hinges.
Instead of a hook I) a metal loop adapted to be attached to the garters, braces or the like may be provided for.
Having now described our invention and the manner in which it may be performed, we declare that what we claim is 2- -1. A garment supporting clasp comprising a loop carrying member, a loop, having bent edges forming'a roll, carried by said member, a two piece toggle member cooperating with the loop carrying member, one of the toggle pieces being an actuating member, the other toggle piece being an actuated member and having a shank portion curved to conform to the curvature of the loop, and a knob carried by the shank portion, whereby fabric can be pressed into said loop, by said knob and held therein, wherein the loop carrying member has a curved portion for affording a limited elasticity to the clip between the knot and the loop.
2. A garment supporting clasp comprising, a loop carrying member, a loop, having bent edges forming a roll, carried by said member, a two piece toggle member cooperating with the loop carrying member, one of the toggle pieces being an actuating member, the other toggle piece being an actuated member and having a shank portion curved to conform to the curvature of the loop, and
y a knob carried by the shank portion, whereby eccentrically to the pivot of the actuating 1 member.
In testimony whereof We have affixed our signatures in presence of two Witnesses.
ALBERT AEBI. FRANQOIS J EANTET. Vitnesses MAURICE MER, L. H. DUFOUR.
