The primary purpose and object of my invention is for use in combination with masonry and concrete walls and wherein wooden and other structural joists, girders and other structuralv ,members are used in combination with said walls to form supporting pockets and the lilre'for such structural wooden members. y Heretofore where wooden members have been used in such construction the end of the wooden member resting in and upon said Walls rapidly deteriorates due to a wet and dry conditioner moist condition prevailing within the wall which is transferredto the Wooden member thus permitting a fungus development within the wooden member, as dry rot.
In my new and improved device, the pocket into which the wooden member is made to engage is ventilated due to the tapering walls and further due to corrugations -disposed within the wall membersthereby permitting a circulation of air. in and around the supporting end of the structural member. 1 v y A further object of my new and improved construction resides in a pocket` forming member having uniform upwardly tapering side walls made of Vcorrugated material and that may be nested .in shipment from the point of origin thereby lessening the possibility of damage of thejdeviceand at the same time -lessening the transportation, handling and other freight charges.
And still further object-slof my new improved poclret forming member resides in supporting holes being formed. within the device; and holes beingformed in the rear walls thereof through which fastening lelements may be passed to engage upon the wood members to maintain the same in relatively fixed position to that of the pocket formed.
Withvtheseand incidental objects in view,
' the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are set forth in the appended claims, anda Ypreferred form of embodimenty ofV which is hereinafter shown with reference to the Y with the fastening therefor.
