IMPROVEMENT IN HOT-AIR DEFLECTORS AND WATER-EVA Specification forming part of Letters Patent'No.

March To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SIMON FAIRMAN, of the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hot- Air'Deflectors and Water Evaporators Combined, of which the following is a specification and I do hereby declare that in the 'same is contained a full, clear, and exact description of my said in vention, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

My invention relates to a portable device adapted to be-hung over a hot-air register, for the purpose of causing the heated air issuing from the register'to pass under and vaporize Water contained in a tray before entering the apartment, as hereinafter fully described.

A is a box, hung by means of screws, mails, or other devices, against a wall and over the hot-air register B. A portion of the front of the box A is provided with slots or, adapted to be closed, when desired, by means of a slotted plate, I), constructed to have a limited sliding motion within the said box. 0. G is a water-tray confined in the upper part of the box A, with the bottom thereof nearly on a line with the top of the register B. The tray is covered with a perforated removable plate, D, which allows of theescape of vapor from the water, when heated, by the air issuing from the register. Hot air issuing from a register placed perpendicular in a wall is not as effective in the heating of buildings as if the same volume of air were introduced at a point nearer the center of the apartment; hence I make my deflector to project as far as is convenient, and thus prevent the cooling of the ascending column of air by contact with the wall.

My invention, in addition to being an ornament to a room, and affording means for lnoistening the dry air delivered from furnaces, is found to be very convenient in nurserie's and apartments occupied by invalids, to heat water and small articles.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and wish to secure .by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
