This invention relates to toys and its general object is to provide a toy that will hold the interest of children for a maximum per od of time, and is also interesting and amusing to adults, the toy including inclined runways communicating with each other and adapted to receive marbles and the like which contact a sounding element disposed at the end of the course formed by the runways.

A further object of the invention is to provide a toy of the character set forth that is easy to play and understand, simple in construction, strong and sturdy, rather inexpensive to manufacture and eflicient in operation and service.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the toy which forms the subject matter of the present invention.

Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be noted that the toy includes a'substantially rectangle frame having a base 1 with recessed ends cut in a manner to provide substantially V-shaped portions 2 forming pockets for the purpose of receiving the side walls 3 of the frame which are disposed in converging relation with respect to each'other as best shown in Figure 2.

The top of the frame is indicated vby the reference numeral 4 and'is substantially rectangle in formation with V-shape grooves formed in the underside adjacent the ends thereof to receive the upper ends of the side walls 3. The top is formed with an elongated slot 5 for the purpose of passing marbles and the like tothe playing course which will now so be described.

The playing course includes a plurality of runways of equal length with the exception of the lowermost runway which for distinction 1 is indicated by the reference numeral 6, while 05 the other runways are indicated by thereforence numeral 7. The lowermost runway 6 is disposed in communication with the lowermost runway 7 as clearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawings and each of the runways 7 is formed with a channel shape groove 8. The ends of the runways 7 at one of the sides thereof are recessed as at 9 and the recessed ends of one of the runways are disposed for communication with one of the recessed ends of the adjacent runway. By this arrangement it will be obvious that the runways are interconnected with each other and form a continuous zigzag course due to inclining the same as shown.

The lowermost runway 6 terminates approximately midway the ends of the base 1 and forms the outlet for the course. Secured to the baseand disposed in alignment with the lowermost runway 6- is a strip '10 5 that bridges the distance between the outlet end of the course to a point adjacent a bell 11 which is supported with respect to the base through the instrumentality of a screw bolt 12.

Secured to the inner portions of the side walls and arranged to provide abutments for the marbles and the like that gravitate down the course, are plates 13 that are substantially arcuate shape in cross section and terminate in flanges 14 bent at right angles to the body portions thereof and being embedded in the side walls 3 as best shown in Figure 2. The marbles and the likewill strike the plates 13 and the rebound will cause the marbles to continue down the course.

The slot 5 is disposed above the uppermost runway 7 and the marbles and the like are disposed or dropped through the slot 5 on to the uppermost runway 7 the marbles then follow the course until they reach the lowermost runway (i at which time the momentum gathered by their travel down the course will shoot them with great force, along the strip 10 for contacting engagement with the bell 11, with the result the bell will be rung very loudly as will be apparent.

It may be desired to form holes in the bottom of the runways 7 for the passage of relatively small marbles therethrough, While average size marbles will travel across the holes. By having the small marbles passing through the holes, they will of course be farther advanced down the course than the large marbles, and this feature also adds to the amusement of the toy.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall Within the scope of the appended claim.

What I claim is:

A game of the character described comprising a frame, a base included in said frame, side Walls secured to and rising from said base, a top secured to the upper ends of said side Walls and being formed with an elongated slot, a pluralitv of runways arranged at an inclination and disposed in comcation With each other to provide a zigzag course for marbles passed through the slot of the top, abutting plates between the runways in the path of the marbles, said abutting plates extending the length of the side Walls and being substantially arcuate shape in cross section to follow the shape of the ends of the runways, flanges formed with the side edges of the abutting plates and being bent at right angles thereto, said flanges being embedded in the side Walls, and a bell secured to the base and in the path of the marbles from the runways.
