GAME APPARATUS.

Application led August 10, 1927. Serial No. 212076.

This invention relates to certain novel improvements in game apparatus and has for its principal object the provision of an improved construction of this character which will be highly efficient in use and economical in manufacture.

Among the salient objects of this invention is to provide a game apparatus which requires in the playing thereof thev exercise of the skill of the player and which will afford amusement to the players and onlockers.

Other objects will appear hereinaftein The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing showing the preferred form of construction and in which Fig. 1 is a plan view 0f the game apparatus embodied in the invention;

Referring more particularly to the drawing, l0 indicates a baseboard and extending around the peripheral edges of this baseboard are upstanding flanges 11 and 12.

Mounted centrally upon this base board is a bearing head 13 having` its upper edge portion bifurcated to rockably receive a web 14 which integrally joins two guideways 15 together. These guideways are substantially channel shaped in cross section having their outer end portions 16 closed and their adjacent end portions 17 opened. Adapted for movement longitudinally, in a manner hereinafter set forth, in these guide ways is a ball or pellet 18. Y

Formed in the basehoard and extending substantially at right angles with respect to the `guideways are two parallel extending plates 19 forming a dove-tailed groove 2O which open laterally into slots 21 formed in the base plate. Platforms are indicated at 22 and these platforms have formed on their under sides dove-tailed fianges 23l which slidably set in the groove and mounted on these platforms to provide finger pieces are animate objects 24 shown in the present instance as goats. Engaging the edge. 25 of each of the platforms and extending inwardly beneath the baseboard and working in the slots is a bar 26. This bar 2G has its inner end portion 27.V rolled to provide a loop and secured to this loop is one end portion of a rubber band. 28 the opposite end portion of the band being secured inwardly ofthe loop to the baseboard through the .medium of a tack 29.

Secured to the loop 27 is one end portion 30 of a drawing cord 31. The opposite end portion of this drawing cordk extends beneath the baseboard and passes upwardly through an opening 32 for connection as at 33 to its corresponding guideway 15. The guide ways and their web portions are pivotally connected to the head 13 through the medium of a pintle 34. i

The opposite correspondingly end p01'- tions 35 of the baseboardv is divided into' a plurality of compartments or spaces 36 of various dimensions with respect to widths. The flanges 11 have formed therein a lurality of spaced aligned opening 37 lnto which is adapted to be removably positioned an indicating pin. (Not shown Operation.

In use, the pellet or ball is positioned n the channel of the guide way opposite the guide way to which the drawing cord to be drawn is attached. One of the players grasps the object 24 to which that drawing cord is attached between the fingers. By sliding the platform 25 carrying thisobject outwardly this drawing cord will be brought taut and rock the guideways so as to position the guide way to which this cord is attached in its lowermost position and raise the opposite guide way in its uppermost posit-ion. The tilting of thev guide ways will cause the ball to roll downwardly toward the open space between the inner adjacent ends of the guideway.. The object is to release the animate object 24 at. the time when the ball reaches this open space. When the object 24 is moved outwardly the rubber band will become taut and upon release of the object 24 this platform the band will snap the same in an inner direction for contact with the ball. Should the object 24 strike the ball, the ball according to its direction of impact with the object 24 will be thrown into one of the spaces 36. As these spaces are of various widths it is intended that they indicate a numerical score suclras for example the largest of the spaces if mdi-eating 5 andthe ball iinds lodgment in this space the operator will set the pin in the iifth hole of the spaced holes in either of the flanges 11.

From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing vit will be manifest that the game is yof such structure as will afford unbounded amusement to the players and onlookers.

lVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited yto the precise details shown but desire to avail myself of such variation and modification as `comes within the scope ott-he appended claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters `Patent is:

l. In a game appa atus a teeter structure providing two opposite aligned guide ways having adjacent end portions opened to provide a transverse passage, a ball movable in the guide ways toward said opening, means yieldably urged in a'direction substantially at right angles with respect vto said teeter structure toward said opening for striking enga-gement'with said ball to throw said ball from movement in said guide ways when said ball reaches said opening, and means operable by said ball strikingl means for imparting see-saw action to said teeter structure to cause said ball to gravitate toward said opening. y

2. In a game apparatus, a base board, a teeter structure mounted on said base board and *providing two opposite alignedguide ways having adjacent end portions spaced to providea transverse opening, means movable toward said opening, means providing connection betwecnsaid movable means and said teeter structure to impart tilting movement to said structure, and a ball movable in the guide ways and movable by gravity upon tilting of said teeter structure toward said openingand adapted to be struck by said movable means and thrown from said guide ways through said openings.

In a game apparatus, a base board, a teeter structure mounted on said hase board and providing two opposite aligned guide Ways having' adjacent end portions spaced to provide a transverse opening, means movable toward said opening, means providing connection between said movable means` and said teeter structure to impart tilting movement to said structure, and a ball movable in the guide ways and movable by gravity upon tilting of said teeter structure toward .Said opening` and adapted to be struck by .said movable means and thrown from .said guide ways through said openings and ,said hase board providing a plurality of' spaces \'a1' ving in width and into which said ball adapted to be projected by said movable means.

4. In a game apparatus, a base board. a teeter structure mounted upon the base hoard and providing; two aligned guide ways, a platform having slidable connection with the base board and elastic member havin;`l one end portion secured to said base board, means connecting the opposite end portions of said member to said platform for urging said platform in a direction toward said teeter structure, an animate object mounted on said platform away from said teeter structure whereby said guide ways will he tilted in one direction, and a ball adapted for mwement by gravity within said guide ways when the direction oi tilting movement oi said guide ways is changed, said ball being adapted to be struck by said object and projected away from said teeter structure.

In a game apparatus, a. base board, a teeter structure mounted upon the base board and providing two aligned guide ways, a platform having slidable connection with the base board and elastic member having one. end portion secured to said base board, means connecting the opposite end iortions ol' said memberto said platform 4or urging said platform in a direction toward said teeter structure7 an animate object mounted on said platform away from said teeter structure whereby said guide ways will he tilted in one direction, and a ball adapted for movement'by gravity within said `guide ways when the direction of tilting movement oi' said guide ways is changed, lsaid ball being adapted to be struck by said object and projected away from said teeter Structure and said base board providingr a plurality of divided spaces into which said ball is adapted to he frelet tively projected by said object.k
