These Ablocksl are movable radially inward into 4engagement with the `outer face of the rim to vshrink this rim to size as well as tofshape the rim.4 yFor movingthe blocks there are the cams 8 which are securedtoand depend from the yholder 3,
there beingonecam for each block. Eachk cam has the cam face 9 which is engageable with the roll 10 carriedupon theouterend of ablock. and the face 11 'engageable with the roll 127 which is spaced yradially voutward fromI 4the .roll 10 yand is carried by Ithe Aabutymen-t Vmember ljmount'ed upon; and lsecured tozthe bolster 2.'- Fory p'ositivelyrnoving the blocks radially outward fand away from the rim, the-cams 8are provided attheir opposite sidesvwiththze-cam faces 14 which are yengagef able with thepins -15 in: axialI alignment with each other and 1 secured to lthe bifurcations 16 attheouter ends of the blocks. Y v For .perforating therim'l to form the hole for receiving the valve stein of the pneumatic tire, I'have providedthe slide, 17 upon one of I' the blocks 4,' thisslide being movable radially'inwardtoward'fthe rim andcarrying the punch 18 Which y is engageable `with the .rim 1 tov perforate the same. The slide 17 is moved `bothltowardeand away from thefrim positivelywby meansofgthe cam .19 whichis secured to land dependsv from the holder 3 and has the cam face 2O engageable with the outer endfof the slideto move 4the latter. radially inward'and-the. cam faces 21y at its opposite side'sengageable with'the .pins 22 upon the.

'The cam19 is so arranged relative to the cams 8 that the blocks 4 are kmoved radially inward to their-predetermined sizing positions prior to thetime the `cam 19 foroesthe punch 18 throughtthe base of therimfy 24 is a die for cooperating with the punch 18, this die being v carried uponthe radiallyfmovable slide 25 which is y'mounted upon the supporting block 26- andguidedby suitable gibs secured-tothis block. This block' restsfupon' and is secured Y to the bolster The slide V25 is movable ra-A dially outward to carry the die 24 into engagement with the inner face of the rim and this slide is forced radially outward by means of the cam 28 which is vertically Vslidably mounted fupon the central block 29. This block is located centrally ofthe holder 3 and secured thereto and the cam 28 is yieldably forced downwardly and away from the holder by means Iof the coil spring 30 having its upper endv abutting the holder andV its lower Y endabutting the cam. Formoving the slide 25 radially inward to disengage the die 24 ,from the rim, I have provided the coi-l spring 31 which is located intheiecess 32 inthe c 1 supporting-block 26.and has its outer endengaging anend of .this Vrecess Aand its innerend engaging thepin 33 secured to the slidev 25.
VVith this arrangement, the die 24 is yieldably Vforced against the inner `face of the rim to f cooperate with the vpunchl8 and consequently this die does not interfere withthe opera-V tion of the sizing blocks 4in shrinking the rim..`VV f1 For perforating the' baseV of the rimY near its ends. to formv holes for receiving the, rivets which secure thecooperating interlocking plates to the yrim vends, I .have provided the pairs ofve'rtically aligned punches 34 on oppositesides of this plate. {These punches are carried by theradiall y movable slide 35 which Y cured :to and'depeds'from theholder 3 and is mounted upona sizing block 4. For moving this Vslide radially inward'to bring the punches into eVngagt-iment with: the rim' to perforate the same, Vthere is the cam 36 which is sehas the camV face .37' engageablel with the outer end ofthe slide 35V and arranged so that the Y punches are broughtinto/engagement with the rim `afterthe' sizing 'blocks have been A moved totheir predetermined sizing position.
For moving the slide 35Yradially outward to disengage the punches rcarried thereby from the rim, the'cam 36 is provided at its opposite .sidesV Withthecam faces 38 whichareen-Y A gageable Vwiththe axially aligned pins* 39V upon the Vbifurcations40- at'theffrea'r endof the slide V35.Y YF or backingv upf the rim .durin'g Y Vfthe operation of the-punches 34,V I have .pro-

Thisslide is yieldably moved ra- Y Vdially outward to bring the die into engage- 5'5 yment with the inner face of therim' by means of thefcam 43 which :is vertically slidably mountedrupon the` centralblock 29. upon the holder, the camloeing yieldably forced down?Y wardlyV and vaway .from'the' holder by means of thecoil spring 44 and the Varrangement being such that the vdie4l maycooperate with 'i .l the pun'chesf34` without interfering 'with the operation of the sizing blocks 4. The. slide 42 is yieldablyforced radially `inward by.y means of the coilfspring 45-which islocated within fthe recess 46 in the Aclock 26. Y t v For perforating theV rim to form holes Y therein for receiving the rivets of the clamping lugs which are to be permanently attached to the rim, I have provided slides A4which Vare radially movable and'mounted upon certain of the sizing blocks 4, theupperfaces of these blocksjbeing inclined inwardly Vand 'l are engageablewiththe innerendfwalls of the openings .to force thesame radially inward after the sizing blocks have been forced radir ally inward to their predetermined sizing por. sitiOn. For returning the slides 47 to their original positions and disengaging the punches 48 from therim, the vcams 8*.jare .prosV l i' vided with the cani faces 5l which areengage-y able with the rolls 52 mounted fin thegslides 47 at the outer ends ofthe openings.:k For backing up the rim I havejprovidedthel dies 53 which are carried by theradially movable Aou slides 54. These slides are mounted upon the v supporting block 26, they upper face ofwhich with the slides so thatthe latter move paral.
' hasinclined bearing portions for engagement 3 '.lel to the slides 47..v The slidesl54 areforced Y` Y A radially outward to bring their diesf53 into: f i
contact with the rim by means of the cams 5 5. which, are l vertically vslidably :mounted upon the central .blockz29kiThe cams55 are forced Vdownwardly and away from the holder by means of the Vcoil springs `56 sov that the A Y u dies'may back up the rimY without' interfering Vwith the operation of the sizing blocks 4. For
moving they slides 54. radially inward toldisengage their diesfrom the rim, there arethe Y Y Y coil springsv 57 which 1- are located vin the recesses58 formed in the upperface of the sup-k porting block 26.
j From lthe above descriptionit will be ,read-l ily lseen that Ifhave provided an improved machine forsizing and perforatin'gja .rim in which the sizing blocks and punches arezboth movable in the same directioninto engage'- v ment with the rim and in which thediesfor- Y cooperating with the punches and backin'gup the rim are movable in the opposite'direction and operate kwithout interfering with the operation of the sizing blocks.: a-It willlalso be v seen that, Ih'ave provided means for positively moving both the sizing blocks and slides carrying the punches in` opposite directions and that the slides Afor carryingcertain of the punches are actuated VYVvVhat I claim as my invention is:
