My inventionl refers to fabrics and more especially to fabrics formed oftextile libres and metal wire, such fabric being particularly adapted for scrubbing purposes. It
r is an object of my invention to provide a fabric of the kind described which is par,- ticularly adapted for the scrubbing of kettles and the like, and to this end, instead of the usual twisted wire I intcrweave the fabric with-weft threads consisting of flattened or round metal wire which is tinselled or twisted onto Turkish towelling. The weft threads may be twisted simply or in compound.
As compared with fabrics interwoven with twisted wires, the fabric according to my invention, with its weft of flattened metal wire which is tinselled or twisted on Turkish cloth. make crimped and rough surfaces which, when the fabric is used for scrubbing, exert a scratching and scraping action so that the fabric is particularly I suitable for its purpose. The interwoven wire has no tendency to become displaced in the fabric, being firmly held in position so' that it will not yield even under very severe stress.
tion and forming part thereof a fabric embodying my invention is illustrated diagrammatically by way of example.
vIn the drawings Fig. l is a plan view and Fig. 2 an end elevation of the fabric.
The fabric b, which may be of cotton, is interwoven with wefts a consisting of fiattene'd or round metal wire. The pitch of the weft and the interchange of the intermediate spaces of the cotton threads and the weft may be as described. The fabric may be more or less closely woven and the metal wire may extend in longitudinal or transverse direction.
With the fabric as described the spaces between the body of the fabric and the weft ture.
ALBERT KESSLER.
