The object of the invention is to provide a printing device of simple construction and light in weight and comprising a removable card and a removable printing plate which can be easily and quickly changed whenever required.
Another object of the invention is to provide a lightweight printing device comprising a frame made of cardboard, fibre board or other suitably stiff and substantial material, a metal printing plate having type characters embossed thereon and an information card, the frame being provided with retaining means of simple character where by the plate and the ca d may be detachably mounted in the frame so that either or both may be changed easily and quickly without separating the device from the set or system for any material length of time. The frame may be made of cardboard, light fibre board, or other li 'ht material and in any desired size 'anc shape. The mat may be made of the same size as the back and the opening 8 is located above Serial No. 298,971.

A filler strip 13 is located at the top of the frame between the mat and the back, a filler strip 1d located between the strip 12 and the back, a filler strip 15 is located between the bottom of the mat and the back and a filler strip 16 is located between the left side of the mat and the back. These filler. strips may be made in one integral member, as shown in the drawings, or they may obviously be made separate parts if de sired. The filler strips are fastened to the back and the mat is fastened to the filler strips by adhesive or by any suitable fastening means. The filler strips 13 and 15 are somewhat narrower than the top and bottom parts of the mat, and the filler strip 14 is somewhat narrower than the strip 12 so that the inner marginal. edges of the top and bottom parts of the mat and both marginal edges of the transverse strip 12 will project beyond the filler strips thereunder to form flanges 17 to receive the card and the plate. There is no filler strip between the mat and the back at the right end of the frame and he spacing of the mat from the back at this end provides a slot 18 toreceive the card 8 and a slot 19 to receive the plate. The mat is spaced sufficiently by the filler from the back to provi size to permit the card and the plate to be. easily inserted in and removed from the frame by endwise movement, and the flanges 17 constitute guides for the top and bottom edges of the card and plate and retaining means for holding the card and plate in the frame. It is not necessary to provide flanges at the right end of the openings 8 and 10 because the flanges at the top and bottom of these openings will be the card and plate but flanges similar to 17 may be provided at the left end of the openings 8 and 10 in the same manner heretofore described if desired. The printing device is simple in construction, it can be made strong and substantial of cardboard, fibre board or suitable papermaterial, or it le slots 18 and 19 of sufficient sufficient to retain v any other material suitable for the purpose. The card and plate may be inserted and removed from the frame easily and quickly so that changes can be made without separating the device from the set or system for any material length of time.
I am aware that changes in the form, con struction, size and arrangement of the parts of my invention may be made Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and I reserve the right to make all such changes as fall within the scope of the following claim:

A printing device comprising a frame made of cardboard or similar light material, a metal printing plate having printing characters embossed thereon in lines extending lengthwise of the plate, and a card'having information thereon in lines extending lengthwise of the card, said frame having a continuous back, a mat of the same dimenmav be made of sions as the back and secured to the back and having a top, a bottom, two sides, openings to receive said plate and card, and a transverse strip between said openings, filler strips between the back and the top, bottom, one. side and the transverse strip of the mat, the other side of the mat being spacedfrom the back to form slots through which the plate and card may be freely moved lengthwise thereof into and out of said openings, the inner marginal edges of the top and bottom of the mat and the top and bottom marginal edges of the transverse strip projecting beyond the filler strips thereof to form flanges at the top and bottom of said openings to retain the plate and card in place in the openings and in the frame.
