Fig. 3 a section taken ,substantially on line iff. 2. The preferred form of construction, as il-v lustrated in the drawings,`comprises a cap 10, preferably of sheet metal or the like, andk having a reinforcin ametrically acrossA t e interior .of the top thereof. Penetrating pins 12 and 13 are secured, as indicated, at opposite ends of the bar 11 and rubber gaskets 14 and 15 are arranged around the bases of said pins.
In use, the'opener is simply forced downwardly over the top of a can containing liquid such as condensed milk orl the like and from which it is desired to remove part of the contents from time to time. The penetrat- ing pins 12 and 13 will form diametric holes or openings in the top of the can and vone of said openings may be used from which to pour the contents of the can, the other opening admitting air. After the removal of a portion of the contents of the can, the said can may be re-sealed and the contents protected from contamination by files, germs and the like, by simply placing 1929. serial mi. 350,940.
departing from the spirit of the invention.
I therefore do not Wish to be limited to the precise details disclosed, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as,- fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus fully described my invention, what 'I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters Patent is: t v
'A eanopener comprising a cap adapted to t over the` top of a can; areinforcing bar extending diametric'ally Iacross the under side ,of the top of said cap and in ,continuous contact therewith; and -two enetrating pins mounted on opposite en s of said bar and supported exclusively thereby.
