Application filed December 13, lazy;lsenai i taaseytii i My invention relates to and has for'its purpose the provision of an apparatus of simple and inexpensive construction which is designed for dispensing gifts to children and in a manner to carry out themythical belief of children that at the end of the rainbow there is a pot of gold which is symbolic of riches V and happiness.

Figure?) is a central vertical sectional view of the apparatus. 7 p I Referring specifically to the drawings, my invention in its present embodiment comprises a substantially flat and hollow base 15 constructed of any suitable material and preferably of rectangular form to provide a receptacle in which relatively large gifts are adapted to be stored for manual distribution to children. This receptacle is provided with a door 16 which is hingedly mounted to control an opening in the upper side of the receptacle through which gifts may be withdrawn from the receptacle. v y In advance of the door 16 is an opening 17 in the top of the receptacle, partly surrounded by an upstanding chute 18, theopening and chute being relatively large to permit the depositing of relatively large gifts into'the receptacle. In advance of the chute 18 is a U-shaped member 19 which constitutes a platform upon which one may stand in position to receive and deposit the relatively large gifts into the chute l8.

adapted to receive small gifts of any character.l It will of course be understood that the apparatus can be made of any size desired, but it is the present purpose of my invention to construct the apparatus of suflicient size as topermit the public dispensing or distribu-. ti on of childrens gifts of all sizes and dimensions. t

In practice,-the operator who deposits gifts into the chutes18 and24r would be concealed by the board 20 from the View of children in front of the board, so that the gifts deposited in the chutes 24 would appear to be delivered from the ends 'of the rainbow 21 into the buckets 23, thus conveying to the child the idea thatthegifts come'from the ends of the rainbow. Those gifts which are too large to be deposited in the chutes 24 are deposited into the chute 18 and hence into the receptacle 15, where they may be withdrawn through the door 16. V i

Although I have herein shown and described only one form of gift dispensing apparatus embodying my invention, it is to be understood that variouschanges and modifications may be made without departing from the spiritof the invention, and within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

the exit openings being disposed adjacent the ends of the rainbow to cause the articles to appear as being discharged from the ends of the rainbow, and portable receptacles in receiving relation to the exit openings.

An apparatus of the character described comprising a receptacle having an entrance opening, a chute above the opening, said receptacle having an exit opening and a door therefor, an upstanding board on the receptacle in advance of the chute, a platform between the board and chute, said board having thereon the representation of a rainbow, openings in the board disposed at the ends of the rainbow representation, chutes on the rear side of the board having exit openings disposed adjacent the openings of said board, and

portable receptacles within the openings of the board for receiving articles as discharged from said chutes.
