IMPROVEMENT IN FIRE-BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 176,363, dated April 18, 1876 application filed.
January 3, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ERNST G'. SOHWARZ, of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Expansion Fire- Board, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in' the arrangement of central braces in an expansible fire-board, for the purpose of supporting the stove-pipe thereon, said braces being so constructed as to extend or contract with the tire-board frame.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents a front view of a fire-board frame embodying my invention. Fig. II represents the same when expanded or enlarged.
My improved frame for fire-places consists of a square frame-Work, A, having the sides D l), as well as the top B and bottom 0, arranged so as to slide over each other, and provided with suitable bracesE E, arranged in a similar manner. Caps or guide-piecesa are connected with the one or the other of these sliding parts, to hold the same together, and to guide the same.
A frame constructed as above described can readily be made to fit any size of fire-place, and is then covered with the suitable material.
The braces E serve to support the stovepipe, which is generally passed through the center of the lire-board into the chimney.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with an expansible fire-board frame, A, the central braces E, capable of expanding or contracting, substantially in the manner and for the purpose as described.
