This invention pertains to a cup dispenser, and more particularly to a dispenser adapted to permit conical cups to be dispensed one at a time from a magazine through a base member equipped with groupsof cup retaining members, with the members of one group positioned exactly above the members of another group to aford an arrangement whereby the withdrawal of more than one cup at a time is obviated due to the fact that the second group of members serves as a means for holding back. additional cups which accidentally may pass the first group of retaining members.
It is an object ofthis invention to provide a cup dispenser adapted to be mounted in a vertical position on a wall or similar support and having a base member constructed n the form of a band having l-ayers of radially directed retaining members integrally formed thereon to partially restrict the passage of cups through the base to insure ndividual dispensing of the cups.
It is also an object of this invention to provide a conical cup dispenser having a plurality of parallel layers of radially directed teeth formed therein with the teeth of one layer disposedexactly above the teeth'of another layer to afiord a partial restriction to the passage of cups through the dispenser permitting the cups to be withdrawn in consecutive order past the radially directed teeth Which act to deflect portions of the margins of the cups inwardly thereby temporarily scalloping the margins of the cups to insure discharge of only one cup at a time from the dispenser.
It is a further object of this invention to provide a conical cup dispenser having a base provided with groups of retaining members disposed in substantially parallel planes, said g base having supported ther'ein a cup magazine or Container provided with latching members adapted to be moved into engagement with certain of the retaining members within the base to hold the magazine removably locked in position with respect to the base.

It is an important object of this invention to provide a conical cup dispenser `having an improved base member embracing a removable liningband provided with a plurality of teeth or retaining members, With the teeth directed radially inwardly and disposed in substantially parallel planes,-wth the teeth of the upper or innermost group serving as a stop for -a dome or magazine supporting collar having locking members integrally struck therefrom and adapted to be moved into locking engagement With-the teeth of the innermost group when the collar is rotated with respect to the base.
Other and further important objects of this invention will be apparent from the disclosures in the specification and the accompanying drawings.

The reference numberal 1 indicates a wall or other suitable support having rgidly secured thereon by means of screws or the like -a socket or bracket 2 shaped to afi'ord a dovetailed groove for the reception of a dovetailed web or bracket 3, the upper portions of the flanges of which are deflected to aiford shoulders 3a. The flanges of the bracket 3 converge or taper slightly to permit4 the bracket 3 to frictionally fit in the wall bracket 2 with the shoulders 3a adapted to seat upon the upper eclges of the flanges of the supporting bracket 2 as illustrated in Figure 8 to prevent the bracket 3 from wedging too tightly within the wall bracket 2 or from passing therethrough.
The dispenser proper comprises a cylindrical cup holding dome or magazine 4 closed at its upper end and constructed of glass or other suitable material. The lower end of the cup container is secured by means of a packing of cement or the like within a metal base ring 5 provided with a circular flange or offset shoulder at 6. The lower portion of the container base ring 5 is adapted to be removably engaged within a cylindrical supporting housing `or metal bottom section 7 which forms the lower portion of the dispenser and has the bracket 3 rgidly engaged longitudinally upon the exterior thereof.
The lower margin of the container base ring 5 is deflected inwardly to afford a channel-shaped circular flange 8 against which the lower end of the glass cup container 4 is adapted to seat as clearly illustrated in Figure 5. Struck or cut from the channel flange 8 at spaced intervals are a plu'rality of downwardly projecting latch members or looking hooks 9.
The supporting housing 7 has a metal liner band 10 removably engaged therein and seated upon a stop flange 11 which is integrally formed on the lower margin of the supporting housing 7. Integrally cut or formed on one end of the liner band 10 is a dove-tail proJecton 12 adapted to be removably engaged in a dove-tail recess 13 formed in the opposite end of the liner band when said liner band is bent into a cylindri'cal form to form a lning for the supporting housing 7. Integrally formed on both the upper edge and the lower edge of the liner band 10 are a plurality of rounded teeth or proJectons 14 Which are equi-distantly spaced around the band and are bent inwardly at substantially right angles to the band .to be positioned radially to form a group of upper teeth and a group of lower teeth with the teeth in the lower group positioned directly below the teeth of the upp-er group. The two groups of teeth are positioned in parallel planes and afford retaining means preventing conical cups 15 from falling downwardly out of the container 4 and through the base housing 7. The upper group of teeth 14 serve as a support for holding a stack of conical cups 15 Within the dispenser with the lowermost cup seated in conta'cting relation with the upper group of teeth 14 and having the apex thereof projecting through the base housing 7 and the liner band 10 out through the bottom of the disp'enser to be exposed to conveniently permit the lowermost cup to be first drawn through the upper group of teeth 14 causing the margin of the cups to flex into the spaces between adjacent teeth 14 lto temporarily scallop the margin of the cups to ease the withdrawal movement ofsaid cups from the dispenser. The lowermost cup is first drawn downwardly between the upper group of teeth 14 and then passes between the lower group of teeth 14 which also serve to cause the drinking margin of the cup to be scalloped or fiexed as clearly illustrated in Figure 4. It will thus be noted that the removable liner band 10 contains a primary group of retaining teeth anda lower or Secondary group of retaining teeth with the teeth of the Secondary group positioned directly below the teeth of the primary or upper group.

said cups are adapted to pass into the space aforded between the upper and lower groups of teeth which will cause the lower group of teeth to a'ct as a second retaining means for the extra cups to prevent the same from passing through the liner -ring or band so that only the lowermost cup will be withdrawn from the bottom of the dispenser. This arrangement of the double layer of' teeth insures dispensing of the cups one at a time.
The teeth formed on the margin ofthe liner band 10 are adapted to be bent at substantially right angles to the band after which the band is rolled into a cylindrical form With the dove-tail 12 -engaged in the dovetail socket or recess 13 to permit the cylindrical liner to be engaged in the upper end of the base housing 7 to seat upon the bottom flange 11. The dome or cup container 4 is filled with a stack of nested conical cups 15 and then has the base ring 5 thereof engaged in the upper end of the basehousng 7 with the channel groove 8 seated upon the upper group of teeth 14 and with the shoulder 6 of the base ring 5 seated upon the upper edge of the base housing 7 as clearly illustrated in Figure 5. Thebase ring 5 is inserted into the base housing 7 in a position to permit the latching members 9 to be projected downwardly between the upper teeth 1.4 after which the base ring 5 and the container 4 are slightly rotated within the base housing 7 thereby permitting the latching members 9 to be lockinglv engaged beneath certain of the upper teeth 14.
Fgures 9 and 10 illustrate a modified form of a dispenser base comprising a cylindrical housing or band 16 constructed of metal and having struck or cut therefrom intermediate the upper and lower edges thereof a plurality of projections or teeth 17 which are deflected inwardly at substantially right angles and are radially disposed in substantially the same plane to form an upper or primary roup of cup supporting teeth. Integrally ormed on the lower margin of the base housing 16 are a plurality of projections or teeth 1 8 which are deflected inwardly at substantally right angles to the base housing 16` and are radally positioned within the same plane parallel to the plane of the teeth 17 and directly below said teeth, The upper or primary set of teeth 17 are positioned below the upper edge of the cylindrical base housing 16 to permit the base ring 5 of a cup dispenser or dome 4 to be removably engaged within the base housing 16 similar to the arrangement shown in Figure 5 with the lower channel flange`8 of the base ring 5 seated on the teeth 17 with the latching members 9 projecting through the spaces between the teethrto permit the base ring 5 to be rotated wthm the base housing 16 causing the latchmg members to lockingly engage beneath certain of the teeth 17 to hold the base ring removably locked within the base housing Braised or otherwise rigidly secured longitudnally upon the exterior of the base housng 16 is a supporting bracket 19 having margnal flanges 20 which converge or taper slghtly and are oifset to form shoulders 21 near their upper ends. The supporting bracket 19 is adapted to be slidably engaged m the upper end of a wall bracket 22 which is also formed with dove-tailed or converging flanges on the upper edges of which the shoulders 21 of the supporting bracket flanges 20 are adapted to seat to hold the base housmg supported in position. Conical cups are adapted to be dispensed through the bottom of the base housing 16 similar to the method described in connection with the cup dispenser illustrated in Figures 1 to 8 inclusive.
Figures 11 and 12 illustrate another modified form of dispenser base housing which comprises a metal strip or band 23 having a row of teeth 24 struck therefrom intermediate the upper and lower edges of the band and a lower row of teeth 25 integrally formed in spaced relation on the lower margin of the band 23. The teeth 24 and 25 are deflected to be positioned at substantially right angles to the plane of the band 23 so that the teeth 25 are positioned in alignment with the teeth 24 and parallel thereto. The end margins of the base band 23 are bent outwardly to afford supporting flanges 26 which are ofi'set to afford shoulders 27 near the upper margin of the flanges. The base band 23 is adapted to be rolled or curled into a cylindrical form to form a resilient or Spring base section permitting the flanges 26 thereof to be slidably engaged in a dove-tail wall 'bracket 28 with the shoulders 27 seated upon the upper edges,
of the flanges of the wall bracket 28 to hold the dispenser base housing 23 in proper position to support a cup container 4 and its base ring 5 similar to the arrangement shown in Figure 1. The base ring 5 may be rotated after being inserted within the base housing 23 to permit the latching members 9 to engage beneath certain of the teeth 24`to lock the container 4 and its base ring 5 withinvthe base housing 23. Conical cups or containers are adapted to be dispensed through the bottom of the base housing 23 downwardly between the upper or primary set of teeth 24 and then through the lower or Secondary set of teeth 25 similar to the method described in connection with the operation of the dispenser illustrated in Figures 1 to 8 inclusive.
It is of course understood that 'many changes may be made, and numerous details of Construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and that it is not purposed i limiting the patent granted thereon, otherwise than necessitated by the scope of the appended claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. A cup dispenser comprising a container adapted to receive a stack of nested cups, a base ring secured to said container, a supportinghousing for removably receiving sad base ring, a plurality of groups of radially directed members within said supporting housing with the members of one group positioned directly below the members of another group and arranged parallel thereto, and latching means carried by said base ring adapted to lockingly engage with members of one of said roups to hold the container and said base rng latched within said supporting housing.
2. A cup dispenser comprising a container adapted to receive a stack of nested cups, a base ring secured on said container, a toothed supporting housing adapted to receive said base ring, and latching means Carried by said base ring adapted to be removably engaged with certain of the 'teeth of said supporting housing to hold the Container locked with respect to said supporting housing.
3. A cup dispenser Comprising a supporting housing having groups of parallel cup supporting and separating members formed therein, a Cup Container removably engaged in said supporting housing, and latching means carried by said cup Container adapted to be movedinto looking engagement with certain of said Cup supporting members to hold the Container locked with respect to said supporting housing.
' 4. A Cup dispenser comprising a supporting housing, groups of teeth within said supporting housing with the teeth of one group disposed in a plane parallel to the teeth of another group and directly beneath said teeth, a cup Container, a base ring secured thereon and adapted to fit into the upper end of said supporting housing, and latching members integrally formed on said base ring adapted to be moved downwardly between the teeth in one group and then be moved into locking engagement with certain of the teeth of saidl group-when the base ring is rotated within the supporting housing.
5. A Cup dispenser comprising a supporting housing, means for mounting the same upon a support, layers of parallel teeth formed within said supporting housing with the teeth in one layer positioned directly beneath the teeth in another layer, a cup container removably engaged 'in the supporting housing and seated upon one layer of said teeth, and latching means Carried by the container adapted to be moved into looking engagement with certain of the teeth of said layer of teeth to hold the Container locked with respect to the supporting housing.
6. A Cup dispenser comprising a supporting housing, groups of.cup supporting and separating teeth formed in said supporting housing, a cup containepremovably engaged in said supporting housing; and latchng means on said Container adapted to be moved into looking engagement With certain of said teeth to hold the Container locked with respect to the supporting housing.

A conical cup dispenser comprsng a supporting housing having layers of cup supporting and separating teeth formed theren, a cup Container removably engaged n said supporting housing and resting on one layer of said teeth, and latching means Carried by said Container adapted to be moved into locking engagement with certain of the teeth of said supportin layer of teeth when the Container is partia ly rotated with respect to said supporting housing.
8. A conical cup dispenser Comprsng a Container adapted to receive a stack of comcal cups, a base ring secured on said container, a supporting housing for removably re- Ceiving said base ring, a liner band engaged Within said supporting housing, and groups of teeth integrally formed on the upper margin and on the lower margin of said liner band with the teeth in each group directed be moved into looking engagement with projections of one of said groups.
10. A cup dispenser Comprising a Container for holding a stack of nested cups, a supporting housing for removably receiving said Container, parallel layers of projections formed in said supporting housing with one of said layers of projections serving as a seat against which the lower end of the Container comes in Contact, and latching means Carried by the Container adapted to be moved into looking engagement w'ith certain of the projections which are contacted by the container to hold the Container removably locked with respect to said supporting housing.
11. A Cup dispenser comprising a Container adapted to Carry a stack of' Conical Cups, a base for supporting the same and having a plurality of layers of projections struck therefrom with the projections in one' layer disposed directly beneath the projections of an adjacent layer, and means carried by the Container adapted to be removably engaged with the projections ofone of said layers to %old the Container locked with respect to the ase.
12. A Cup dispenser comprising a Container adapted to carry a stack of nested Cups, 'a supporting housing, a dovetailed liner band removably engaged in said supporting housing and having layers of .parallel projections integrally formed thereon, with the projections in one layer disposed directly beneath those in another layer, a base ring secured on the lower end of said Container, and adapted to fit into the upper end of said supporting base, locking members struck from a flange formed on the lower end of said base ring and adapted to be projected between the projec- -tions of one layer of projectors when the container base ring is engaged in the supporting housing, said locking members adapted to be moved into looking engagement with certain of the projections in said layer of projections when the Container base ring is partially rotated within the supporting housing, a wall bracket, and a supporting bracket rigidly isa 2 County, New York.

Acup adaptd to hold a stack of nested cups, a supporting housing therefor having an inwardly directed flange on the lower open end thereof, a toothed liner band engaged in said supporting housing and resting on said flange, and locking means on said container and cooperating looking means on said band detachably lockng the container to` said supporting housing when it is applied thereto.
14. A cup dispenser comprisingfla supporting housing, cup supporting and separating proj ections therein, and a cup container seating in said supporting housing and having means for entering into latching engagement with certain of said projections to removably lock said 'container to said housing.

A cup dispenser comprising a container for a stack of internested hflexible conical cups, a zone of fingers a distance above the dispensing end of said container and projecting into the path of the stack and engaging the lowermost cup a distance below its .upper edge whereby to sup ort said stack, said fingers being rigid an unyielding whereby when the llowermost cup is pulled downwardly its conical wall will be deflected inwardly by said fingers and will bulge outwardly into the spaces between said fingers thereby to ease the withdrawal movement of said cup past said fingers and separationthereof from the ack, *and-a second zone of fingers a distancevbelow said stack suporting zone and in the path of the with with the withdrawn cu of any other cup or cups which may have fo owed the withdrawn cup through said stack sup orting zone, the fingers in 'said second zone eing in vertical alinement with the fingers of said stack supporting zone.
