The present invention contemplates the provision of a combined'picture frame and plate upon which the picture is adapted to be painted, the entire article being formed from a single piece of material, which is substantially braced or'reinforced and provided with means whereby the latter can be suspended or hung upon a wall.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detail description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and where- 1n: Figure 1 is a front elevation of the article constituting the subject matter of the present invention.

What I claim a As anew and improved article of manufacture, a combined picture frame and plate upon which a picture is adapted to be painted, said article being formed from a single piece of material and including a sub-- stantially fiat body portion, and offset marginal edges of artistic cross sectional contour, vertical and transverse I intersecting ribs formed on one side of the body portion, and. eyes formed on the terminals of oneofsaid elusive it is of substantially rectangularcontour in plan, being formed with curved marginal edges 10, while the body portion bounded by the curved edges 10 is substantially flat on one side, and itis upon this surface that the'picture is painted; This surface is also slightly roughened as at 11' to facilitate painting of the picture, and to add to the effect of the latter; As shown in Figure 3 the rear of the body portion 11 is formed with vertically and transversely disposed ribs 12 and 13 respectively which materially strengthen and reinforce the frame in itsentirety, and one of the transverse ribs transverse ribs for the purpose specified.
