This invention pertains to improvements in egg beaters, and to a method of connecting certain of the parts'thereof.

Objects of the invention are to provide an egg beater that is simple in-construction, thoroughly rigid and strong, and of few parts.

Further, an object is to furnish a novel manner of connecting a handle portion and beater-element supporting frame Vfor an egg beater, which is unique in form, is sturdy `and permanently rigid throughout.

Still another object is to provide a type of egg beater having a support therefor in the nature of a lid or cover for a receptacle wherein materials to be beaten are contained, the said lid or cover serving as a brace for the handle portion. l

In the appended drawing- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my complete egg beater.

Figure 2 is a side elevation of partof a handle-frame and a beater-element supporting frame portion much enlarged.

Figure 3 is a transverse section of the handle-frame portion shown in Figure 3, on line 3--3 of that figure.

Although the drawing shows the beater in connection with a lid or cover A of a receptacle B it is also adaptable for use without said lid or cover, the structure being substantially the same in either case. l

The said structure includes what I shall term a handle-frame, which, in this instance, comprises two members 1 of the same identical form. These are preferably made in channel form, orhaving a Bange 2 at each edge as in Figures 2 and 3. At their upper ends they abut, being riveted together upon a projection 3 of a ferrule 4 receiving any usual handle 5. Below these riveted extremities the members 1 are separated to form spaced 'be described, said wheel being supported on 'tion of said member 1.

Due to the type of drive for the pinions 15 practically any degree of cant` may be given the legs of the frameA 11, the desired diver- 9 gence of the legs permitting the beater-elements to he as widely spaced as desired for free action. A f l The form of the handle-frame members for 1 securing the beater-element supporting- 10o frame as well as the manner of forming the same about the frame extremities is believed to be novel, together with the fact that the said extremities extend through the knee por- '5 tions 9 and provide for a very secure and rigid job.

While the lid or cover 'A provides a connection between the handle frame extermities the equivalent of the lid as a connection may be used where the beater is not to be used with a special receptacle as B but is to be portable to any receptacle wherein beating is to be done.

While I have described and shown a preferred arrangement of the egg beater it is to be understood that Ido not wish to be understoodas 'limiting myself tothe exact details of construction of the same.

I claim:

1. A beater structure including a handleframe portion having a drive wheel journaled thereon, a beater-element leg, a beaterelement'journaled on the leg including a pinion to engage the drive wheel, and a part for attachment thereto of said handle-frame `portion,'and` constituting a lid or cover for a vessel 'to' contain material to be treated, said handle-frame portion being substantially straight'and parallelingv the drive-wheel, the 'same having an outwardly extended part leading'away from the said drive-wheel substantially at right angles to the plane thereof, and thence extended substantially parallel to the plane ofthe wheel and attached to the said lid or cover, said pinion lying in the angle of the frame thus formed, said beaterelement leg extending through the outwardly extending part and held thereby, its extremity paralleling and abutting the straight 49 portion of the frame' portion and affixed thereto.

2. Abeater structure including a handleframe portion of two extensions, a drivewheel journaled between the extensions, beater-element legs, a beater-element journaled on each of the legs each including a pinion' to engage the drive-wheel, a lid or cover for a vessel to contain material to be treated, the said lid or cover being provided for attachment thereto of said handle-frame extensions, each extension being extended at right angles to the plane of the wheel away therefrom each in an opposite direction substantially parallel to the plane of said lid or cover and spaced therefrom and being extended parallel with the plane of saidV wheel and secured to the lid or cover, the pinions lying bet-Ween the latter and the right angled extensins, vsaid beater-element legs extending through the latter and at their extremities abutting' the frame portions and affixed thereto. 2*
