This invention relates to Christmas-tree holders of that variety where novelty, in the way of miniature replicas of well-known objects, combine with the the holders aforesaid. v
The objectsof the invention are: the pro-' viding of a safe and ornamental tree holder utilitarian purposeof that will allow for innovations which will keep up the interest in festive customs. The providing of a braced tree holderwhich has all its mechanical-structural aspects masked in forms that present a more pleasingaid to the imagination. luminated means for an otherwise darkened and hidden area, which invites the at-' tention of observers by the pleasing effect produced. And the ofiering of an object which will provide an economical device that will dually function as an element of juvenileinterest asidefrom its uses as atre support.
The figures of the drawing are indexed as follows Fig. 1 is a rear dotted line. I v a Fig. 2 is a side elevation, broken away to disclose the interior.
Fig. 3 is a sectional plan view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a diagrammatic view of the treecentering means. 7 r I Similar characters of reference applyto like parts throughout the several views.-
Referringmore particularly to the drawings, D is a miniature reproduction of a. bungalow, or domicile, having all the essen V tial elements'that usually appear in replicas common to the dolls-house class. The house rests upon an integral base or yard B, which extends beyond the outline of the house proper, so that a wide area is covered for insuring against any tilting tendency, and,
also, for allowing the placing of other objects that may be added as seasonal adjuncts.
The walls will have transparencies in the form of windows, some of which may be free to open upon occasion. V
The roof is in two parts; one half is R, hinged to the rear wall at I-I;the other half,
The providing of il through accident, and offers a safe mechanical method of transferring-such forcesdown elevation of the "invention, its use being indicated by the tree shown in rent.
dol'ls-house.
an? integrally fixed of structure D.-; The chimneyQC is complete as to itsoutward portion; this elementis in-c Y tegrally part ofthe roof section R, the bottom being scribedto rest-upon, thesection Ru when the closed .position is assumed.
'Bothiroof s'ections R and BC are cutout to olfei lan opening that registerswith thechimney?sfinterio r. Thumb screws are tapped through the. four .walls of the chimney C as shown, and these elements will. lock .in j position rany r diameter-pf tree trunk that will i approximate-"the ppening occurring in said chimney. Trainer portions, R.R, when closed, due to theirbeing attached to the vertically rigid walls, are virtually compression members that resists all thrusts which may arise from any sway action happening to the broad expanded base The doorlike .part of the roof, R, gives access to the f the. tree-illuminating wire W, which is passed through the chimney C before the tree trunk T is inserted; the wire W, having the V customary plug-in element'P, can be passed to the outside again through the opening Na to where it will connect with thetap unit M. The said unit provides for a plurality 5 of connections that will serve for a variety of uses in the distribution ofelectric our- The hinging of the door portion R will allow also, of free access to the house interior when the device is functioning as-a Directly under the I F of the house D, is fashioned a basin-like depression W for holding water that is ab- .sorbed by the tree; there is a further depression of cone-like form, centrally aligned with the chimneys aperture which functions as a self centering means for the tree trunk T. This latter depression is a point of rest that'combines with the clamping screws S, and the bracing effect of the roof portions R and R. to form the mechanically strucinterior of the domicile D. for introducing if chimney C, in theffloor tural combination which will maintain the I 7 tree in a fixed vertical position.
" The basinW may, upon 0ccasion,'be covered by a suitable plate V, leaving the floor F smooth for such purposes as dolls houses are used.
The base B is grooved at G for wires WV which convey the electric current for lamps L that illuminate the house interior, leaving 'the said base clear of obstructions for resting upon flat surfaces.
A house-current wire W will service the invention from any convenient outlet or socket, and tl 1e..do1nicile itself will be tinted to represent those efiects common to structures of this classification,
Having described the invention, what is claimed as being patentably novel and desirous of protecting by Letters Patent, is
An article'of, manufacture having, an inclosure accessibly covered, a hinged cover portion integrally combined with a rectangular tube, a fixed centering rest within said nclosure, and means residing in said tube for limiting the hinged portion to complete the inclosure cover when locating the rectangular tube spacedly above and axially aligned With the aforesaid centering rest.
In testimony of which we hereunto aifix our signatures;
PETER J. WERNER. JOHN SOBCZAK.
