y This invention relates to molds and particularly to slabs used in the construction of the walls of buildings; and the object of the invention is to provide a plurality of substantially similar mold sections preferably fashioned from sheet metal, and which are arranged side by side in stacked relation to facilitate the forming of a multiplicity of molded bodiesin a single operation; a further object being to provide said mold sections with angularly disposed end wall members forming at the opposite sides or ends of the molded body, beveled walls, said end walls having means for supporting reinforcing rods or Wires to be embedded in the molded bodies; a further object being to provide bottom mold members or pallets adapted to reinforce the lower end portions of the mold sections and to accuratelyspace said sections one from the other in conjunction with the end walls of said sections, said end walls having means for preventing lateral displacement-s of the sections one upon the other; and with these and other objects in view, the'invention consists in a mold of the class and for the purpose specified, which is simple in construction, efficient in use, and which is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invent-ion is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accom` panying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Fig. 1 is a plan view of a part of a mold made according to my invention and illustrating a number of mold sections.
Fig. 2 is a side and sectional view of the structure shown in Fig.1.
Fig. 3 is a perspective detail view of one of a number of mold sections which l employ; and,
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the molded bodies formed by my improved mold construction.
In carrying my invention into effect, I provide a plurality of similar or substantially similar mold sections 10, which in the construction shown, consist yof sheets of metal,
the end portions of which are provided with angularly disposed end walls 11 and 12. The wall 11 of each section is arranged on one side face of the wall 10 and is formed from the material of said wall, by bending one end portion thereof backwardly upon itself as seen at 13, and then outwardly and angularly with reference to the longitudinal and transverse planes of the'wall 10, and at an angle of approximately forty-five degrees. .The free end portion of the wall 11 is bent outwardly in parallel relation to the wall 10 as' seen at 14, and then at right angles to form a retaining lip or flangev 15, providing a recess or seat 16 on the inner face 'thereof in which` the wall 10 of an adjacent section seats in coupling and' alining a multiplicity of sections. 4 i
The wall 12 is also formed from the materialiof the wall 10, and .is arranged 'at the opposite side face of said wall, by bending one end portion thereof backwardly upon itself as seen at 17 and then outwardly and angularly to said side face at the same angle as that of the wall 11 and is then bentoutwardly in parallel relation to the wall 10 as seen at 18 and then at right angles to the part 18 to form a lip orflange 19 on the inner face of which is a recess or seat 20, in which the wall 10 of an adjacent section seats in the alinement of a number of mold sections. It will alsobeunderstood that the part 18 of the wall member is arranged adjacent the wall 10 of an adjacent section as clearly seen in Fig. 1 of the drawing. The angularly arranged portions of the walls 11 and 12 are provided with apertures 11a and 12a spaced vertically thereof, in which reinforcing rods 21 are adapted to be supported, said rods extending'through the end walls to provide ends 21a which project through the molded concrete body 22 formed within'and between the walls of adjacent mold sections. i
In coupling the mold sections together, pallets 23 are arranged between the adjacent faces of the mold sections at the lower ends thereof andare of a form corresponding tov the horizontal cross sectional form of the mold chambers 24 formed between said sections. The ends ofthe pallets 23 have tapered walls corresponding to the angular arrangement of the walls 11 and 12. The pallets 23 are provided with spaced apertures 25 in which vertical reinforcing rods 26 are adapted to be supported to extend vertically through the mold chambers 211. That part of the rods 26 which extends into the pallets, projects from .the resulting molded body 22 as seen in Fig. l of the drawing, and if desired, both ends of the rod may be projected by merely extending said rods above the top surface of the mold chambers.` It will also be noted that ythe horizontal reinforcing strands 21 are interwoven with the vertical rods 26 in order to aid in supporting` said rods in proper position, and any number of the strands or rods of reinforcing material may be employed.
In the use of my improved mold sections, one end mold is placed against a block or suitable backing, and thisend mold, for eX- ample the mold 10a, Fig. 1 may have the wall member 11 only thereon, and the other molds are placed side by side and intercoupled in the manner illustrated in Fig. 1 with the flanges l5 and 19 overlying the end walls of adjacent sections to properly aline the sections one with the other. After the desired number of sections have been placed in position and the pallets 23 arranged therebetween, the opposite end mold section, not shown, is blocked up Vunder pressure against the backing wall for the section 10a to retain all ofthe sections in proper position. The reinforcing rods being placed in position in the manner described, the concrete may now be poured or otherwise placed in the multiplicity of mold chambers'2a formed by the mold sections employed. When the bodies of concrete have become set or partially set to a degree sufficient to permit of the removal of the mold sections therefrom, this operation vis performed and the molded bodies 22 are Vallowed tc stand in upright and stacked relation upon the pallets 23 until said molded bodies have become fully set, after which time they may be removed for use or storage as may be desired, the pallets being removed therefrom. It will be understood that my invention is not necessarily limited to the formation of the end walls 11 and 12 integral with the walls 10, nor. to the specific structural formation of the mold sections herein shown and described, and various other changes in and modifications of the construction herein shown and described may be made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a mold of the class described, a mold section comprising a vertically arranged straight wall member, side wall members ar- 16th day ranged at the side edges of said vertical wall member and being substantially V-shaped in cross sectional form, including portions arranged in parallel and abutting relation to the adjacent surfaces of the vertical-wall member, portions arranged at an angle o-f approximately forty-five degrees to the first named portion and said vertical wall member, and the free edges of said angular portions terminating in angular flanges for alining one wall .member with an adjacent wall member in forming a multiple chamber mold.

In a mold of the class described, a mold section comprising a vertically arranged straight wall member, side wall members arranged at the side edges of said vertical wall member and being substantially V-shaped in cross sectional form including portions arranged in parallel and abutting relation to the adjacent surfaces ofthe vertical wall member, portions arranged at an angle of approximately forty-five degrees tothefirst named portion and said vertical wall member, and the free edges of said angular portions terminating inV angular flanges for alining one wall member with an adjacent wall member in forming a multiple chamber mold, and said side wall members being arranged at gpposite side faces of the vertical wall memer.
3. In a mold of the class described, a mold section comprising a vertically arranged straight wall member, side wall members a1'- ranged at the side edges of said Vertical wall member and being substantially V-shaped in cross sectional form including portions arranged in parallel and abutting relation to the adjacent surfaces of the vertical wall member', portions arranged at an angle o-f approximately forty-five degrees to the first named portion and said vertical wall member, the free edges of said angular portions terminating in angular flanges for alining one wall member with an adjacent wall member in forming a multiple chamber mold, said side wall members being arranged at opposite side faces of the vertical wall member, and the angular portion of said side wall member at cne side of the mold section being directed inwardly and at the other side being directed outwardly.
