IMPROVEMENT IN SLOP-BUCKETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 175,793, dated April 4, 1876; application filed January 15, 1876. I
To all whom it may concern: c
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN P. WALKER, of Macon, in the county of Bibb and State of Georgia, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Slop-Jars, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a vertical section of my improved slop-jar, taken through the line a: 00, Fig. '2. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention relates to slop-jars, which are provided with flaring top rims, to prevent the liquid poured thereinto from slopping out; and consists in making on the flaring rim an upward extension that rests against the wall, and thereby effectually prevents the latter from being spattered.
The simplicity and economy of construction in my jar give it a great advantage over those now in use, where the lids are sunk deeply into the vessel, and take up a great deal of their space.
A represents the body of a slop-jar, upon the top of which rests the funnel cover B. O is the flange formed around the mouth of the jar. At the rear side of the jar the flange O is made with an upward extension, D, which acts as a guard or shield to prevent the water, while being poured into the jar, from flowing over or from spattering upon the wall or carpet, which it is liable to do when the jars are constructed in the usual way.
- Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat entihe combination, with funnel'cover B, of a slop-jar provided with a flange U, having the upward extension D, as and for the purpose specified.
