Description
A. WAHL.
EXERCISING-APPARATUS. L
Patented Apr`11'4,1876.
inrfffvfiliiiill UNITED STATES PATENT ALBERT WAHL, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN EXERCISING:` APPARATUS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 175,581, dated April 4, 1876 application tiled November 5, 1875.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT WAHL, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Gymnastic Exercisers,of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to straighten the backs of the crooked, and for gymnastic exercises generally. It is a m-.ichine with a roller for the back to rest on and a bar for the hands to take hold of, and draw the back across the roller.
Figure l is a perspective View of my invention. t
A is the platform, on which the apparatus stands; B B, the standard which supports a roller; C, a cross-bar between the standard, through which a brace passes; D, a roller across the top of standard B; E, a brace which holds standard F in place; Gr, a pin which holds brace E into standard F; H, a pin which holds brace E into cross-bar 0; l, handle on the top of standard F.
This machine may be made with one standard instead of two and the brace C passing through it, and a frame on top in which roller D runs.
K, pin which passes through ears L and the foot of F, and may be shifted into the hole back of the one in which it now is to adjust standard F to the work it has to do. The brace E may be lengthened out or shortened up, as may be necessary, and the pin H adjusted so as to make it right.
Operation: Lean over the roller D and reach over and with the hands take hold ot' the handles I and draw the back back and forth over the roller, and the back will be straightened and the exercise will be good.
I claim as my inventionl. In an exercising-machine, the brace E, standard B, and roller D, in combination with standard F, substantially as set forth.
2. The standard B, roller D, cross-bar C, and adjustable brace E, in combination with standard F, substantially as described.
ALBERT WAHL.
