IMPROVEMENT IN CANISTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N o. 175,374, dated March 28, 1876; application filed October 26, 1875.
To al whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN NORTON, of the' city ofChicago, Cook county, State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improved Base or Support for Coffee-Mills, of which the following is a full description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- The figure is an elevation Of the coee-mill, and a section of the base.
The object Of this invention is to furnish, in the base of a coi'ee-mill, a compartment for the storage of the unground coi'ee or spices, and a compartment to receive the ground,

In the drawings, A represents the main or storage case; B, the compartment for the ground product; C, the door for withdrawing it; D, the door or lid of the main case; E, the coffee-mill; and F, the board or foundation upon which the mill is supported.
The case A is made of tin, sheet-iron, or other suitable material, and made in the form shown, which will be the most convenient. A separate compartment, B, is formed within the oase A, and is so connected With the mill as to receive the coffee, 85e., as it is ground.
The coifee-mill E is an ordinary lap-mill, and is attached to a board, F, or other suitable foundation, in order to give it the necessary strength and support. This foundation is attached to the case by nails, screws, or other suitable means.
By placing the mill at the side of the case, a vertical one maybe used instead of the horizontal mill shown.
