Secured to the drive shaft 8 is a belt pulley 11 around which passes a belt 12, preferably of a flexible nature, the same further engaging a belt pulley -18 secured toone end of a looper shaft 14: carried upon the under face of the bed plate 2.
As disclosed in Figure 2, it will be noted that the bed plate 2 has provided therein at one end an opening 15 under which the belt is mounted within an arm 16 formed integral with the bed plate 2 and bent downwardly at right angles therefrom, the lower end of which s bifurcated and has positioned therein a bearing 17 through which the shaft 14 passes. I The other end of the bed plate 2 is provided with a pair of spaced transversely extending slots 19 and 20in which the material feeder 21, hereinafter morefully described, is adapted to move. That portion of the bedplate 2 which lies between the slots 19 and'20 is provided with an opening 35 for the passage of the needle therethrough during its operating strokes.
As disclosed in Figure 2, it will be noted that the under face of the-bed plate 2 has detachably secured thereto a circular plate 22, the central portion of which is provided with a cutout portion 23. The plate 22 has formed integral therewith a downwardly extending arm 2%, the intermediate portion of Which'is provided with a horizontally arrangedslot 25 which receives therein one end of a feeding mechanism 21, the other end of 35 which is'retained against lateral movement by a pair of downwardly extending fingers 26 which are likewise formedintegral with the ring'22.
The feeding mechanism 21 is composed of a body portion 21 having ends 37 and 38 which are connected by spaced arms 39 and 40 which are receivable within the slots 19 and 20." As disclosed in Figure 3, it will be the slots 19 and 20, I have provided an arm 99 27 whichis formed integral with the body portion 21 of the feeder, the free end of which has provided therein an enlarged opening 28 which is adapted'to receive an eccentrio block 29, detachably secured tothe looper shaft 14 by the locking screw 30. To support the adjacent end of the shaft 14, the plate 22 has formed integral therewith'a downwardly extending arm 31 in which is positioned a bearing 32 for the reception of the shaft 14.
As'disclosed in Figure 3, the end of the looper shaft 14' is provided with a trans verse slot for the reception therein of the usual looper, not shown in the drawings, but clearly understood by those skilled in the art.
The bed plate 2, as previously mentioned, is hingedly connectedto the base 1 and to lock the same thereupon I have provided upon the under face of the bed plate 2 a pair. of downwardly extending resilient fingers 83, the lower ends of whichare pro-- vided with enlarged portions adapted to be received within a groove extending along theinner face of the base 1.'
