This invention relates to mounting for picker sticks and includes a motion transmitting device capable of being applied to any loom of standard type. As illustrative thereof-I have shown a form of practical efliciency.

The bracket casting 1 has a rear- I wardly projecting sleeve 1 which receives the rock shaft R ofthe lay of the loom as indicated at 2 in Fig. 6. vIt is tapped to receive the set SOYQWSB by which means it is served and the blow is struck twisting tendency on the part firmly held on saidrock shaft. Slidingly mounted on the stud sleeve 5 is an elongated strap 6 slotted as at 7. This strap is attached to thepicker stick as indicated at 6 and 6?. The bottom end of the strap 6 is provided with a pivot bearing 6 for the post 15: on the compensating cover 9 of the spring Hooked at 11 to fasten over an edge 10 of a slot in the anchor side of the'spring box 10 is a torsion spring 11. This torsion spring, best shown in Figs. 7, 8 and 10, is engaged at its opposite end at 11 over an edge 9 of the compensating cover 9.
lVhen assembled the bolt 12 passes through the compensating cover of the spring box (shown in Figs. 6, 9, 9 and 11) and through a cored sleeve 13 of the anchor side of the spring box and on through an adjustment slot 1, in the casting, as shown in Figs. 1, 3, and 4;. The cord sleeve 13 fits loosely inside a sleeve 14; which is integral with said compensating cover of the spring box.
On the outside periphery of the anchor side of the spring box 10 are a plurality of notches 10 The shoulders of said notches provide a convenient engaging means for rotating the box 10 relative to the cover 9 to tighten the torsion spring 11. I
The spring 11 is drawn around cog-shaped shoulders 15 on the sleeve 14 at the forward throw of the picker stick, which provides a tension means for the return throw of said picker stick.
I have not attempted to indicate in the drawings any type of picker stick drive, as such may be of any standard type.
As I have attempted to show in Fig. l the movement of compensating cover 9 one-half of the arc of ,its revolution, as indicated by the arrow (Z, drops the pivot 8 a distance b-b and positions sleeved stud 4 at the top of the elongated slot 7 all of which compensates for the distance a-a, indicated in Fig. 1. The other half are of revolution indicated by the arrow a (Fig. 1 completes one throw of the, picker stick f The travelof picker stick to the left, as shown in dot and dash lines, in Fig. 1, is accomplished by picker stick drive. The return travel, as indicated in Fig. l is accomplished by the force. exerted by the unwinding of torsion spring 11.
The embodiment shown is to be understood and a coil spring disposed within the housing and anchored at one end to the housing and at its other end to said cover.

In a parallel picker stick motion, a base having a stud, a picker stick strap pivoted on said stud and having a slidable connection with saidbase, a spring box comprising coinplementary members including a relatively rotatable compensating cover on said stud and a relatively stationary spring housing, and a coil spring disposed within the housing and anchored at one end to the housing and at its other end to said cover, the housing being provided with an external series or spaced 1 shoulders for tightening said sprlng.

In a parallel picker stick motion,'a base having a stud,'a picker stick strap pivoted on said stud and having a slidable connection with said base, a spring box comprising complementary members including a relatively rotatable compensating cover on said stud and a relatively stationary sprlng houslng, sald cover having a bolt and a sleeve pro]ect1ng towards said housing and said housing having a cored sleeveprojecting towards said cover and receiving said bolt and itself loosely received within said sleeve of the cover, and a spring coiled about said sleeve of the housing and anchored atone end to the housing and at its other end to said cover.
4; In a parallel picker stick motion, a base having a stud, a picker stick strap pivoted on said stud and having a slidable connection with said base, a spring box comprising complementary members including a relatively Y rotatable compensating cover on said stud and a relatively stationary spring housing, said cover having a bolt and a sleeve PIO1GCtl1lg towards said housing and said housing having a'cored sleeve projecting towards said cover and receiving said bolt and itself loosely'received within said sleeve of the cover, and a spring coiled about said sleeve of the housing and anchored at one end to the housing and at its other end to said cover, the housing being provided with an external series of spaced shoulders for tightening said spring and the sleeve of the cover being providedqwith a series of spaced shoulders over which the spring is drawn for tensioning the throw of the'picker stick in one direction.

In a parallel picker stick motion, a base having a stud, a picker stick strap pivoted on said stud and having a slidable connection with said base, a spring box comprising complementary members including a relatively ders over which the spring is drawn for tensioning the throw of the picker stick in one direction.
6; In a parallel picker stick motion, a base having a stud, a picker stick strap on said stud and having a slidable connection with said base, a rotary compensator mounted on said base and including a springfor yieldingly resisting rotation of said compensator in one'direction, said'base including a pair of lateral arms embracing said strap on each side thereof and efiective to prevent twisting tendency of the picker stick. 7

In a parallel picker stick motion, a base having a stud, a pickeristick strap on said stud and having a slidable connection with said base, a spring box including relatively rotatable members, a coil spring disposed withinthe housing and anchored at its end to said members, said base including a pair of lateral arms embracing said picker stick strap on each side thereof to maintain the strap in its plane of motion;
