Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 74.637, dated March 14, 1576; application filed February 9, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS I. OAKLEY, of New York, in the State ot' New York, have invented a new and Improved Frill 01 Trimming, of which the following is a specification The nature of this invention consists in the arrangement and combination of ribbons of silk or other materials, having fringes on both edges, in such a manner as to produce a neviT description ot' dress-trimmings, ladies neckties, and for other purposes. y
In the accompanying drawing, Figures I and II represent longitudinal sections of frill. Fig. III is a top view and cross-section of the saine. Fig. IV is a section ot' a combination for ladies7 neck-ties.
The ribbon A, which may be otl silk, w0rsted, or any other desirable material, has a long fringe, B, on both edges, and then plaited or boX-plaited, either single, double, or any other number of times, according to the nature of the desired article, and then stitched or fastened together in the center. A small narrow tape, O, or other stift'ening material, may at the same time be attached on the back for the purpose ot' preventing the twisting of the same. i- In this style the article may he used for trimmings of dresses, bonnets, or other garments, presenting somewhat the appearance of feather or fur trimmings.
