Patented Feb."4, -1930 oUIs HERMAnNI, or rLriAsANToN, NEBRASKA The present invention relates to an appas ratus for holding hogs and has for its prime object to provide means for efficiently and eiiectively holding a hog for the'purpose of other similar operations. 7
Another very important object ofthe'invention resides in the provison of an apparatus of this nature which is'adapted'to hold 9in place diiierent sized hogs.
A still further very important object of the invention resides in the provision 'ofan ape paratus of this nature WhlClIlS exceedingly.
ratus embodying the features of my invenj ustable bar, and
tiona a Figure 2 is another side elevationjthereof opposite to that shown in Figure 1 with the lower portion broken away,
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse section therethrough, I I I v Figure't is a perspective view of the ad Figure 5 is a transverse vertical sectional view of the invention takenthrough an intermediate portion of the same.
Referring to the drawing in detail. it will be seen that numerals 5 denote two pair of cross legs forsupporting between their upper ends, the ends of a V-shaped'trough T comprising sides 6 and 7 The lower ends of the pairsof legs are connected bybars 8 forming 1 braces.
Bars 9 rise from intermediate portionsof one brace 8 to the upper edge of the board 6 and are disposed in spaced parallelism and each is provided with a series of spaced pins Bracket arms 12 extend outwardly from HOG HOLDER I Application filed. May 1, 1929. Serial nojesaeoe.
fs TEs rarer; oFFICE a v 1 the board 7 and support a bar ltand sleeves v I 15 and 16 having respectively loops 17 and 18 are mounted for longitudinally sliding movemerit onthe bar. r A strap 19 is fixed to the loop 17. A strap 20'is'fixed to the board ,7.
A leg engaging strap 21 is fixed to the loop 18 and is adjustable by means of buckles 22. A bar.;23 has notched ends 24 for engaging pins 10 and is provided with an opening 25 to receive strap 20 and with an elongated slot 26 v 1n which is slidable abracket27lhaving a loop 28 -W1l)l1 which the strap 19 is engageable.
The straps 19.and 20 are provided resp'ec tivelyiwith buckles 30 and 31 so that the straps may beadjusteid; a 1 A set screw 32 I holds the bracket 27 a the "desired adjusted position." Set screws 33 and 3 1 and sleeves 15"and' 16 respectively hold these screws in adjusted position. Thus it will be seen that the leg strap maybe moved or adjusted longitudinally of the trough and the strap 19 be adjusted longitudinally of the trough toward orv away from the strap 20. I I a I s s a The bar 23 will be engaged with the pins 10 in accordwith the size of the hoglying in the trough. It will thus'be seen that a hog may be tlghtly'held in place for castratiomvaccinat on and other operations whereby said" v operation may be performed without danger a of injuring or harming the hog due to the effort of the animal to escape;
I It is thought that the construction; utility and advantages ofthis invention will now be quite apparent'to those skilled in this art without a more "detailed description thereofi The present embodiment of the invention has 7 been disclosed in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice itattains the features of advantage enumerated as-desirable in the statement'of the invention and the above description.
' It is apparent that'c'hanges in the details l of construction, in the combination and arrangement of'partsmay be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafterclaimed or sac= rificing'anyof its advantages. 1 i a Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. An apparatus of the class described comprising two pairs of cross legs, a V-shaped trough having its ends supported between the upper ends of the two pairs of cross legs, brackets on one side of the trough, a'bar supported in said brackets, a sleeveislidable on said bar, means for holding the sleeve in ad justed position, a strap engaged with said sleeve, a pair of uprights on the other 'side for holding said second sleeve in adjusted position, and a leg strap engaged therewith, all of said straps having buckles for adjustment purposes.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
' LoUIs HEBMANNI.
of the trough each having a plurality of pins,
a bar engageable with the pins, and having adjustable means connecting said strap thereto. 7
2. 'Anapp'aratus of the class described comprising two pairs of cross legs, a V-shaped trough having itsends supported between the upper ends of "the two pairs of cross legs, brackets on one side of the trough,a bar supported in said brackets, a sleeve slidable on said bar, means for holding the'sleeve inadjusted position, a strap engaged with said sleeve, a pair of uprightson the'other side of the trough each having a plurality of pins, a bar engageable with the pins, and having adjustable means connecting said strap thereto,-another strap fixed'to the first side of said trough and engaged with said second bar.
3. An apparatus of the class described comprising two pairs of cross legs, "a V shaped trough having its ends supported between the upper ends of the two :pairs of cross legs, brackets on one side of the trough, a bar supported in said brackets, a sleeve slidable on said bar, means for holding the sleeve in adjusted position, a strap engaged with said sleeve, apair of uprights on the other side of the trough each having a plurality of pins, a bar engageable with the pins, and having adjustable means connecting said strap-thereto, another strap fixed to the first side of said trough and engaged with said second bar, a
second sleeve slidable on the first bar, means for holding said second sleeve in adjusted position, and a leg strap engaged therewith.
4:. An apparatus of the class described comprising two pairs of cross legs, a V-shaped trough having its ends supported between the upper ends or" the two pairs of cross legs, brackets on one side of the trough, a bar supported in said brackets, a sleeve slidable on said bar, a set screw threaded through the sleeve for frictionally engaging the bar for
