To all whom it may concern:
l Be it known that I, EDWARD B. LOVETT, of Amherst, in the county of Hampshire and State of lll'assachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Combination Boot-Jack and Foot-Rest, of which thefollowing is a specification: Y
Myinvention relates to an improved piece of furniturev for family and hotel purposes and it consists of the arrangement of a boot-jack, Slipper-holder, foot-rest, and newspaper-pocket in one neat and comfortable device.
The accompanying drawing represents a perspective view of my improved bootjack and foot-rest, in which- A represents the lower or base-part of the device, which is placed on side supports in a Somewhat inclined position, having an oval- Shaped hole for the insertion of the boot, to act as a boot-jack.A
Upright Standards B, that are rigidly braced by a connecting cross-piece, support a pivoted foot-rest, G, that has at one side a folding pocket, D, for the newspaper, at the other side loops or Straps E for holding the slippers.
The device is designed for being placed in Y position near the fire, so that the occupant can readily remove his boots, take the slippers from the loops and put them on, take the newspaper from the pocket, tip the vfoot-rest into horizontal position, and use it thus to Support the legs in the favorite resting position, so as to Warm the feet and feel generally comfortable. Y
One of the standards may be provided with a socket-hole, F, for the pipe or cigar, to render the article still more convenient.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to Secure by Letters Patent- An article of furniture, consisting of a pivoted foot-rest, Supported by standards, and having a newspaper-pocket and Slipper-holding loops attached to its opposite faces, and a base-frame, having a boot-jack formed therein, substantially in the manner and for the purpose Set forth.
