UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE FRANCIS C. KOLLATH, OFCHICAGO, ILLINOIS ELECTRIC CONNECTER Application 1ed September 27, 1927. Serial No. 222,229.HE|SSU My invention relates to electric connecters, tional contact. The receptacle is also proand more especially to that class of heavy vided with an annular groove 6 to receive the duty connecters, or so called attachment plugs cylindrical housing 7 in which the pins are used on extension cords in connection with supported and which protects the pins from portable machine tools. The electrical condamage when the connecter is not in the re- 55 nection is usually made to the power line by ceptacle, this housing also assists in supportinserting the plug in a wall receptacle proing the connecter in the receptacle, and a lug vided for the purpose, and is accomplished 8 on the housing cooperates with the notch by a straight-n push of the plug and dis- 9 in the receptacle to maintain the alignment 10 connected by a straight-out pull. of the pins with their respective sockets. 80
One of the objects of my invention is to In the -present instance I have illustrated a provide a connecter for a plurality of conthree pole plug but it is evident that any ductors and in which one or all of the connumber desired may be used.
' necters may be fused, and in which the fuses The plug or connecter proper comprises 5 are supported in the connecter and are readtwo insulating bases 10 and 11, these are se- 65 ily accessible or insertion and removal withcured together by means of the screws 12 out disassembling the Connecter. and 13 and the members 14 into which the Another object is to provide a device which screws are threaded. The housing 7 is also is cheap to manufacture, easy to assemble, supported on the members 14 by the screws 15.

The base 11 is provided with radial slots 70 Further objects will appear from the Olor depressions 16 which contain the fuse clips lowing specifications and draWIlgS- 17 and 18 for supporting the fuses 19, these Realizing that my invention may be varied Clips are secured to the angle members 20 y 'y in its Physioal embodiment Without depart? and 21. The angle members 20 are secured ing from the spirit of the invention, I desire rigidly en Jche base 1() by means of the Pins 'J5 it to be understood that the specific construc- 4 which are threaded into them, the pins betion and form herein shown is to be taken as ing provided with a Shoulder 22 for clamping illustrative and not in a limited sense. against the base 1() The angie members 21 In the accompanying d'aWmgS 11k@ P01" are secured in a similar manner to the base tions of the device are designated by like 11 by means 0f the clamping members 23 8o olmmotofs thuout me Soforal gmoswhich are internally threaded to receive the Fig l is a Pompootyo VmYV of my mvontlon binding screws 24. While the device as illustrated in the drawings shows a two part insulating base, it will be understood that it may be made in a single piece if desired.-
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by'Letters Patent:
1. An insulating base having electrical conductors therethru, oneV end of said conductors terminating in electrical connecters, removable fuses in said base and forming a part of said conductors, a forwardly extending shield around said connecters and mounted on said base, a flexible and resilient rubbei'like casing around said base and extending over said shield, and means for removably securing said casing to said shield.
2. An electrical connecter comprising an upper insulating base, and a lower insulating base, a plurality of radially spaced conductors extending thru said bases and terminating in connecters, means radially spaced between said conductors for securing said bases together, a cordgrip supported on said securing means, a forwardly extending connectershield also supported on said securing means, and a iexible rubber like casing around said bases and removably secured to said shield.
3. An electrical connecter comprising an upper insulating base, and a lower insulating base, a plurality of radially spaced conductors extending thru Said bases and terminating at one end in connecters, fuses in said conductors and removable from the side of one of said bases, means radially spaced between said conductors for securing said bases together, a coid grip supported on said securing means, and a iexible and resilient rubberlike casing around said bases and removably secured to said shield.
4. An electrical connecter comprising an upper insulating base, and a lower insulating base, a plurality of radially spaced conductors v extending thru said bases and terminating at one end in electrical connecters and at the other end in binding terminals, radially spaced securing members between said bases, means securing said upper base to said securing member, means securing said lower base to said securing member, a cord grip supported on said last named means, a connecter shield around said connecters and secured to said securing members, and a casing around said bases.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto 4subscribed my name.
FRANCIS C. KOLLATH.
