My invention relates to book markers or indicators to be permanently attached to books so that the reader may simply and quickly indicate the page at which the next reading of the book is to be commenced and it is my object to produce a device which will be thin, light and cheap and which will not increase the thickness of the book to which it is attached and which can be easily attached to a book.
In the drawing I have shown one embodiment of my invention but it is obvious that the size, shape and materials may be varied without departing from my invention.

The device consists of two sheets of thin material, such as paper, Bristol board, celluloid, stiffened cloth, or the like with sliders between them. The base sheet 1 is provided with an adhesive on its back so that it may be readily secured to the inside of a book. The face sheet 2 has a plurality of openings 3, i and 5 therein. three of these openings being sufficient to care for a book of 999 pages.
The movable strips 6, 7 and 8 lie between the base sheet l and the face sheet 2 and each is behind an opening in the front sheet. The Y base and front sheets are secured together by pasting as indicated by the stippling in Fig. l between the strips so that channels are formed in which the strips 6, 7 and 8 may slide. Each strip bea-rs numerals from l to 0, which numbers are successively visible through the openings in the front sheet over the appropriate strips.
In use the adhesive on the back of the base sheet is moistened and the device attached, preferably to the inside cover, to a book becoming a. permanent part thereof. If the reader stops reading at any particular page the movable strips are pulled from either end and slid in the channels until the desired page number appears in the 'openings On continuing the reading at any future time it is only necessary to look at the marker or inoR INDICATOR 1928. The device is so simple and cheap that each book in a library may be provided with one and the face sheet may also be a book` plate for the owner of the book.
I claim A book marker or indicator comprising a base sheet coated with adhesive on its back face whereby it may be secured to a book and a face sheetprovided with openings therein, the two being secured together at intervals whereby channels are formed between them under the openings, and strips, one of which is slidable in each channel and each provided with numerals successively visible through the openings, the strip ends projecting beyond the base and face sheets.
