Description

Jan. 14, 1930. s. c. NICKLE 'g 1 DISPLAY FIXTUBIE Filed June 16, 1928 lm enfr SamueZC/Kc/Je L5) I I? .7 a.
Patented Jan. 14, 1930 UNITED STATS OFFICE SAMUEL CLARENCE NICKLE, OF CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA, ASSIGNOR TO GEORGE W. ENDRESS, OF WINNIPEG, CANADA DISPLAY FIXTURE Application filed June 16,
This invention relates to improvements in display fixtures, and more particularly to a display fixture for shoes for use in store windows, and whereby the toe, heel and side of the shoe is efiectively shown.
A further object is to provide a device of this description for effectively displaying the lines and pattern of a shoe, which can be manufactured and placed on the market at very low cost.
In addition to being used as a display fixture in store windows, the device can also be used as a wall fixture against the window background or as a window stand. It can be effectively used on any pillar, post or wall by simply sticking it up with a thumb tack.
\Vith these and other objects hereinafter more fully referred to, the novel features of the invention comprise a frame or stand formed with a horizontal fiat portion adapted to support a shoe or the like sideways and having integral therewith a slanting front, sides adapted to support a shoe in ordinary or reversed position, and means associated and integral with the slanting front for detachably retaining a shoe thereon, and means co-operating with the top and the sides for suspending hose or the like.
Referring now to the drawings in which so like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the stand as a whole. 7
Figure 2 is a side elevation partly in section.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a modified form.
Referring more particularly to the drawings in which an example of the invention is disclosed, comprising a frame or stand formed from a single length of flat metal to provide an enlarged flat top portion 10 adapted to support a shoe or the like, a vertical side 11 with an opening 12 therein for suspending or hanging up the frame, an inclined side 13 bent upward at its lower extremity as at 1 1 and then parallel with said end and then at substantially right angles thereto to form the base portion 15, the loose end of the vertical side being folded as at 16 to engage with the bent end 17 of the base portion and rigidly secured 1928. Serial No. 285,970.
thereto in any well known manner such as a rivet 18 (see Fig. 2).
In the slantwise or inclined side 13 are formed or punched, lugs 19 protruding outwardly to engage with the heel 20 of a shoe supported on the slantwise side and adapted to retain the shoe in display position thereon.
It will thus be seen that my improved display fixture consists of a single strip offlat metal formed with an enlarged portion 10, the strip being bent in any well known manner to form the sides 11 and 13 of a triangular frame with the enlarged portion forming the apex or top 10. The loose end is then bent as above described in any suitable manner to form the base which may or may not be attached to the sides.
The essential and novel features are the frame formed with a top horizontal portion and a front or display side 13 at a'c'onvenient and effective angle to the horizontal flat top, the said side being provided with means for retaining a shoe thereon.
In addition to supporting a pair of shoes, one giving a side view of the entire shoe and the other a front view, I also provide a hanger for hose or the likein the form of a single strip of wire 21 bent in substantially triangular shape, the loose ends being spaced as at 22 to permit the hose to be inserted. This hose hanger engages, as illustrated in Fig. 1, with the base of the display fixture. I
In the modified form as shown in Fig. 3, the flat top is dispensed with and having abase 23, standard 11 and inclined surface 2 1, with projections 19 to engage the heel of a shoe.
As many changes could be made in the above construction, and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claims, constructed without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A display fixture adapted to support a shoe or the like in horizontal position and in a slantwise position respectively, comprising a single strip of metal formed with an enlarged portion and bent in substantially triangular shape with the enlarged portion, forming a fiat top and the side a slanting portion, lugs formed in the slanting portion to retain a shoe thereon'in ordinary or inverted position, the loose ends of the strip being bent to form a base portion connecting the sides of the triangle and means for fixedly securing. the'sides and the base portion together.
2. A display stand embodying a transversely extending horizontal portion adapted to support a shoe or the like and display the same in side elevation, a slaznting'portion extending centrally downwardly and forward- 1y from the side of the'former portion and adapted to display a shoe or the'li'ke thereon in the ordinary or reverse position andmeans associated with the slanting portion for'detaoha, ably retaining'the shoe thereon.
' 3. A display stand embodying a transverse- 1y extending horizontal portion a'dapted 'to support a shoe or the like and display the same in side elevation,ra slanting portion ex-- 2; tending centrally downwardly and forward- 1y from the side of the former portion and adaptedto display a shoe or the like thereon in the ordinary or reverseposition, means-as sociated with the slanting portion for detach- 30 ably retaining the shoe thereon and a support for the portionsintegrally formed'as-a part of the stand. v ,h Ini witness whereof I. have hereunto set my an as SAMUEL CLARENCE NICKLE;
