15 fountain, with the result that if only one or several persons desire to wash, considerable water is wasted.
It is one of the objects of the present invention to overcome the above-mentioned ob- 20 jectionable feature, and provide a sectional spray head having a separate valve for each section so that each individual desiring to wash may utilize a section of the spray head and the valve therefor will supply water only to the section being used.
A further object of the invention is to provide a sectional spray head which is of very simple construction, is strong and durable, and is well adapted for the purpose described.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of the improved sectional spray head, and its parts and combinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.
In the accompanying drawing in which the same reference characters indicate the same parts in both of the views:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the improved spray head, part being broken away and shown in section; and Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, partly in vertical section.
Referring 110w more particularly to the drawing, it will appear that the numeral 5 indicates a spray head casing which is preferably of circular shape in horizontal plane, and is provided with a lower portion 6, a top plate 7 and an intermediate member 8, said intermediate member being formed with an 50 outer circular wall 9 and an inner circular wall 10. Said member 8 is also provided N top plate 7 into a plurality of compartments i 12 in the form of truncated sectors, in horizontal section. The lower portion 6 is pro vided with a side wall 6' extending up to-and flush with the outer wall 9 of the intermediate member 8.
The top plate 7 is secured to the intermediate member by means of bolts 13 threaded into the partitions 11. The lower portion 6 is also secured to the intermediate member by bolts 14 extended into the intermediate member.
The outer periphery of the Wall portion9 of the casing is formed with an annular lip 15 through which a line of radial outwardly'and downwardly directed spray apertures 16 extend, said apertures opening at their inner ends into the compartments 12 and being adapted to discharge water exteriorly of the casing for washing purposes.
The top plate 7 above each compartment 12 is provided with tubular extensions '17 into which stuffing nuts 18 are threaded. Valve stems 19 extending through and having threaded engagement with theextensions 17 and the top plate 7 areprovided with handles 20 at their outer ends. The lower ends of the stems are provided with valves 21 which are positioned to engage the Valve seats'of ports or openings 22 formed in the intermediate member 8, there being one port for each c'ompartment 12. The stuffing nuts 18 through which the valve stems extend form watertight connections around the stems.
The improved spray head is preferably adapted for use with the circular typeof'sanitary washfountain now in ordinary use, and provides means for turning on and off independent sections of the spray head b-y'the person or persons usingthe same. As thus arranged water may be supplied to the spray head either from above or below; as shown, the arrangement being from below with the supply pipe 23 entering medially the lower portion of the member 6. Water from the supply pipe enters a lower chamber 24 which the bottom portion of is provided with an annular screen 25. The water in the chamber 24 may then enter any of the compartments 12 whose ports are opened by the valves 21 and is then discharged exteriorly from said compartments through the respective spray apertures 16. Obviously, one or more persons can individually turn the water on or off to a section or compartment as desired, without in any manner interfering with the use of other sections of the fountain by other persons.
From the foregoing description, it will be seen that the improved sectional spray head is of very simple and novel construction, and is well adapted for the purpose described.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is:
1. A sectional spray head, comprising casing formed with a bottom, a top, and upstanding side walls and having partitions and a horizontal wall dividing the interior thereof into a main undivided inlet chamber and an outlet chamber having an outer wall, the latter chamber having a plurality of spray apertures in its outer wall, one of the chambers being above the other and separated by the horizontal wall and the outlet chamber having a plurality of compartments in the form of truncated sectors in horizontal section, all of which are in communication with the inlet chamber, and means within and extending exteriorly of said compartments for independently controlling the flow of water from said inlet chamber to said compartments. a
2. A sectional spray head, comprising a casing of circular form in horizontal section formed of a bottom, a top, and upstanding side walls and having partitions and an inner horizontal wall dividing the interior thereof into an undivided main inlet chamber and a plurality of compartments having outer walls, and separated from said inlet chamber by the horizontal wall, there being spray apertures in the outer walls of said compart ments and said spray apertures extending in a horizontal, annular line, there also being a vertical port in the horizontal wall between each compartment and the main chamber, a single inlet pipe for the main chamber, and a Valve for each port and having a control stem extending exteriorly of the casing.
3. A sectional spray head, comprising a lower member formed of a flat bottom and upstanding side walls at right angles thereto, an intermediate member having partitions, a top member, said lower and top members being removably secured to the intermediate member, and allot said members forming a casing, the interior of which is divided into a lower chamber and a plurality of upper compartments by said intermediate member and partitions, the upper compartments having outer walls formed with spray apertures and said compartments being in the form of truncated sectors in horizontal section, and means and vertical partitions connecting said walls,
and also being formed with a plurality of spray apertures in said outer wall, a top member, said lower and top members being removably secured to the intermediate member and forming a casing, there being a chamber between the lower and intermediate members and a plurality of compartments between said intermediate and top members defined by said partitions, the intermediate and top members, and the vertical walls of the inter-.
mediate member, each compartment being formed with a port between it and the chamber, and avalve for each port and having a controlling stem extending exteriorly through said top member.
