Description

E. F. WALTER 1,742333 CORNER BIN FOR KITCHEN CUPBOARDS Filed oct. '8. 1926 A TTORNE y Paiements. vf,- "193e I, EARNEST WALTER, F HONESDALE, PENNSYLVAIA CORNER BIN FOB KTCHEN GUPBOARD Application med (Mobel-.8, 1926. Serial No. 140,236.'
This invention relates to corner bins for kitchen cupboards and the object of the invention is to provide a bin adapted to be turned on a vertical axis and provided with end panels adapted to extendliush with the faces of the cupboard when the bin is in closed position.
Another object of the invention is to vide a corner bin of the characterdescribed provided with shelves adapted to be exposed to view by turning the bin on its axis.
Another object of the invention is to provide a corner bin for kitchen cupboardsin the form of a cylinder mounted on its vertical axis, one-fourth ofthe cylinder being cut away in the form of a segment to' provide end panels for the bin extending flush with the adjacent doors of the cupboard. These objects andthe several novel fea tures of the invention are hereinafter more fully described and claimed and the referred form of construction by which t ese objects are attained is shown in the accompanying drawing in which-fcupboard embodying my invention. j
Fig. 2 is an enlarged horizontal section through the corner bin. A
Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3-3 of 3o Fig. 2.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the bin is built up from a pair of vertical partitions providing paneled doors 1 whic are secured together at right angles to each other-so as to extend iiush with the adjacent doors of the cupboard as will be 'understood from Fig. 1. As shown in Fig. 2 a series of'ra'dial partitions 3 divide the interior of the bin into. segmentary compartments. These compart- 40 ments as shown in Fig. 3 are provided with shelves 4 and each shelf is provided with an upwardly extending arcuate flange 5 to revent articles from coming oft' from the she ves. This device is set on its vertical axis on the pivot pins 6 and the entire bin turns on these Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a kitchenpivots, the pivots being set in the corner of vthe cupboard in order to mount the bin in q shelves are easily accessible and the shelves roare designed to accommodate all types of articles. With this arrangement a great amount of shelf room is provided in the smallestpossible space Without changingthe appearance of the ordinary cupboard.
From the foregoing description it becomes evident that the device is very simple and eliicient in operation, Will not easily get out of order, is composed oi few parts and is of consequent low manufacturing cost and provides a device which accomplishes the objects described.
Having thus fully described my invention, its utility and mode of operation, what I claim Aand desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is- The combination with a kitchen cupboard having portions extending at practically a right angle one to the other and formed of spaced inner and outer vertical walls, the inner walls of the two portions terminating short of the point of intersection of the vertical planes occupied thereby respectively, of s a rotary bin'pivotally supported practically at the point of intersectionof the planes 'o the inner walls ofthe twol cupboard portions, said bin having a pair of vertical partitions positioned at practically a right angle one s.
with the other and adapted, when the bin is in closed position, to occupy substantially the same planes as the inner vertical Walls of the cupboard portions and providing anarrangement having the appearance of an ordinary closed cupboard, said Avertical partitions of the bin and the inner vertical walls of the two cupboard portions having similarly formed' outer faces, the remainder of the rotary bin, when in the closed position, lying within the area defined by the respective planes occu ied by the inner and outer vertical walls o the cupboard, a series of vertical, radially positioned, partition'members in that portion of ,j the bin within the cupboard when in closed position formin chambers o en at the periphery of the in, and horizontal shelves provided in the said chambers.
In testimony whereof I sign this specification.
EARNEST FRANKLIN WALTER.
