Description

Dec. v24, 1929.
l, VON LlNPRUN VIOLIN SUPPORT I Filed NM. so. 1926 Patented Dec. 24, 1929 INKA VON L INPRUN, on
PATENT OFFICE MANNHEIM, GERMANY VIOLIN SUPPORT Application filed November 30, 1926, Serial No.
This invention relates to an adjustable support for violins which is mainly designed to prevent fatiguing of pupils and to induce the pupil to adopt the correct position of hand and fingers without perceivable compulsion.
If the support has been once adjusted it can be easily removed after the playing to be used again without the necessity to re-adjust, as the support after it has been put together will be in the former position.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1 shows a front elevation of the violin support.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 shows the violin support resting upon the arm.
The lower part a of the violin support consists of a rod bent so that it forms a horizontal bow open at one end. On the lower arm I) of this bent rod a sleeve 0 is adjustably mounted to which by means of a rod d a curved element 6 is fixed which is designed to rest upon the arm. The position of the curved element a can be adjusted in the sleeve 0 to any desired angle with the aid of an adjusting screw f. The lower part a of the sup- 20 port is removably connected to the upper part it of the same by means of two vertical rods 9 engaging with two tubes z'. Between the tubes i a pad 70 of elastic material, as felt or the like, is arranged. The pad 72 rests upon 3 the horizontally-bent lower ends of two vertical rods Z which are threaded at the upper end and screwed into vertical sleeves m, m which have internal right handed and left handed threads and into which the lower ends 40 of two vertical rods 02, n are screwed on which the clamping plate 0 is fixed which is parallel to the pad 70 The violin is clamped between the clamp ing plate 0 and the pad is whereupon the 4 curved element 6 is placed on the arm as shown in Fig. 3 after it has been adjusted to the desired angle.
I claim An adjustable violin support comprising in combination a central element consisting 151,763, and in Germany November 30, 1925.
of a rod bent toform two parallel arms, a sleeve movably mounted on the lower of said arms, a curved lower element designed to rest upon the arm of the violin player, a rod to the lower end of which said curved element is fixed, an adjusting screw for adjustably fixing the top end of said rod to said sleeve, an upper element consisting of twoupwardly projecting rods threaded at the upper end removably mounted on the upper arm of said 00 central element, a pad fixed on said upper element, a clamping plate parallel to and above said pad, two rods threaded at the lower end downwardly extending from and secured to said clamping plate, and two sleeves having 5 each right handed and left handed internal thread and designed to be screwed upon said rods of said pad and to receive in the upper end said rods of said clamping plate.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
