IMPROVEMENT IN STRAW-CUTTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,855, dated February '22, 1876; application filed Y January 3, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. HARRISON,
of Clay Village, in the county of Shelby and State of Kentucky, have invented a nea and Improved Feed'Gutter, of which the following er-shaned end, and a roller at each end of the rocker to work in the cam as a substitute for the ordinary pivot, the object being to contrive a connection of the cutter that will'not be subject to the lateral play of the cutter common to the ordinary pivots, will give a shearcut throughout the whole swing of the cutter, and will be more durable.

Ais the rocker-shaped end of the cutter B, working on the rocker-bed G, and having a roller, D, in each end, working on the ways E, which, together with the rocker-bed, form a cam contrivance, in which the cutter works, partly rocking on G, and partly turning on the rollers D, in the upper and lower angles of the cam, and sometimes running on the ways E, so that the cutting-edge, being partly curved and partly straight, will shear-cut throughout its whole movement.

The rocker A is bolted on the end of the cutter above the cutting-edge, and the handle G is bolted on the other end.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new andldesire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the rocker-bed O andways E with the cutter, having rocker A and rollers D, substantially as specified.
